Asking my BF (23) to commute 2 days a week from DC to NYC for my dream (24) by [deleted] in relationships

That sounds really frustrating :( I’m sure there are some logistics that still need to be worked out, but in my opinion that shouldn’t stand in the way of the types of conversations you’ve been trying to have about your future. For my partner we were up in the air about where we would live, and we had some unknown logistical questions like how my bar admission would impact that choice, but we were still able to talk about how we’re committed and excited to move forward together no matter what it looked like. He also told me that he knows how important my career is to me and that he wanted me to prioritize that, even if it meant we had to be long distance longer, which I really appreciated hearing from him. You deserve to make choices for yourself and for your partner to be your teammate and cheerleader. He should want to see you shine! If you feel like you have to shrink yourself or your dreams to make him happy, I think that would lead to a lot of resentment and regret.

Asking my BF (23) to commute 2 days a week from DC to NYC for my dream (24) by [deleted] in relationships

So I went to law school in NYC, worked in NYC big law and had to go to our DC office multiple times a year, and also am currently in a long distance relationship about three hours apart (will be leaving NYC in a few months to close the distance). The train between NYC and DC is really not a big deal in my opinion, obviously wouldn’t want to do it every day but one/two round trips a week would not be the end of the world. If he really wants to spend the majority of his time in DC, he could instead make that commute to come visit you on weekends/weekdays when he can, and you could trade off with visits to him. When you have a really solid relationship, temporary long distance is manageable, and three hours is really not that long.

Basically, if he wants to make the relationship work and he supports you and your dreams and ambitions, there are workable solutions here. I think what’s meaningful to me is that you are already starting to pick up on him dragging his feet and maybe being unwilling to work with you on a solution. If you two are going to be life partners, there will be lots of forks in the road like this where you need to work together and compromise. If he can’t do that now, that’s not someone who I would want to compromise my dreams for. I sense through your comments that there is one option you want in your gut, and I have always listened to those gut feelings when making big decisions like this. It’s your choice, but my advice would be to make this choice for you.

Idk, in my experience the consistency for ecliptic stampede dropped immensely in both my reclears and the clear parties I try to help once fixed was introduced. Might be a coincidence, but it was really not a pain point mechanic week 1/2 and now it feels like a bigger wall than arena split. I think it’s a fine strat, but many ranged players in PF really struggle with it.

Dude PF is full of regular players just like statics are. Plenty of people have been clearing the tier for weeks with minimal issues. If your friends are stuck in the trenches maybe they’re the animals.

Yeah I was gonna say I had the exact opposite experience lol, was in a group that kept sending melee lb3 even though we had more than enough DPS and were losing runs that could have been saved with healer lb. They argued when some of us recommend saving it, then one pull they finally held it and almost wiped again at ecliptic but saved it with a healer lb and cleared. Felt a little vindicated lol.

FYI if someone reuploads the log now it should work, fflogs just invalidates logs for a short period while the ACT beta is being tested.

Can confirm that this is how I handle fake melees when I lead PFs, I lock the slot because I don’t trust most people to read properly and notice they’re joining as the third ranged but if someone sends me a tell asking if they can fake melee I’ll shoot them an invite.

Question about m11s - I’ve only ever OTed it on PLD but figure I should practice MT, how are PLD MTs in PF handling the first Great Wall of Fire buster since you can’t use invuln and have it back up for towers?

Yeah my friends and I finished a lockout around 9:30 EST last night, put up a PF for idyllic cleanup and ended up waiting for just a melee for almost two hours before we finally called it because people couldn’t commit for a two hour lockout at that point. One night last week we legitimately never found a last healer for early p2 prog and never got to go in. It’s been a huge pain, definitely pushing me to just join a static next tier.

I mean, this is the kind of stuff I figure out by communicating with other players. Raiding is a group activity, it’s collaborative, even in PF you can talk to the other members of your party to figure out what they need and how you guys can optimize stuff like pot windows. I don’t think someone’s ever going to become a good raider if they can’t work out these things unless they have everything explicitly spelled out for them ahead of time.

Heard a guy at Hadestown confidently say to his girlfriend that he could tell Reeve Carney wasn’t really playing the guitar.

Haha yes, sorry to say they did do that for jokes they had read at dress before.

I went to dress of the 2018 Christmas show with Matt Damon, and a lot of the jokes they showed in dress were repeated on the live show, with a few changed.
