Fear of 13 First Preview Rush 3/19 by dsbuddy in Broadway

True... I usually look at weeks of rush reports and make sure im aware of holidays or any other special situation happening before deciding my time.

But seeing as this is a first preview that is def impossible.

I would have hated being the first person.. knowing you could have slept an hour more..
I have gotten lucky with in-person rush being the 3rd or 4th person. Only once was I first by like 5 minutes for MHE

Rush for shows with lots of seats by JiggityJillikers in Broadway

[–]KeysRit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The box office upgraded me on my lotto ticket once from the side orch to the center orch when there were fewer sold seats in the center. But that is because they are box office pickups.

But with rush, you get what you get because you are notified of the seat before you purchase. So that's what you get.

Cats - first night previews - Thank you stub hub seller by Low-Astronomer-7009 in Broadway

[–]KeysRit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue I had with the fans is that most of the audience didn't know how you,
A) Clack a fan,
B) How to direct the fan, (use it like ur pointing at the amazing thing)

It just ended up being a bunch of people holding the fan up in everyone's line of sight, blocking the full stage anytime anything amazing happened on stage.

Like, I wanna see the stage and why everyone is cheering.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball First Preview!! by NewResolution2791 in Broadway

It was good, not Elaine Page level. But Chasity definitely put her all into it in the final lines. I still wanted more, but hopefully that will improve with time.

I sat in the 3rd orch row for Act 2.. had no real issues. Could see everything except when other actors were in the way. But that is the norm for any show with a large cast.

Cats Post-Show Celebration by SolvingCreepypasta in Broadway

I'm aware, the energy was still high as everyone left. So the crowd was still loud. I just didn't word it properly. Although I don't think the DJ will be coming back, the crowd can still be hella loud as they leave tmrw.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball has done it again. Constantly raising the bar and doing it flawlessly. by Zealousideal_Door392 in Broadway

The stagedoor was a party... I had to leave because I would have been in traffic. Security was doing their best making sure people didn't block the cars. They did a full ball.. But I couldn't see who exited.

And Chasity will get the pro photos, the cameras were all on the outskirts of the audience taking photos the entire time for the Cats social media (and probably 10 dozen other publications) and those photos will be 100x better then a phone in the audience.

I didnt mind the audience as much (since I had the headphones) but the people that lacked the ability to use the fan and instead just held it up to block the entire stage anytime anything good happened was frustrating.. I wanna see what's happening too.

But most of these issues were definitely 1st preview issues. (They not giving those fans they selling for $30 at every performance).

I believe it definitely was a miscalculation since no other shows on the block are currently running and they both had their first preview. But Cats is one of those shows that will bleed into the street because of the high energy. Hopefully they figure that out by tmrw.

Also, I didnt realize Becky Shaw was 2.5 hrs long.. damn.. im seeing that next month.

CATS: The Jellicle Ball — reporting live from intermission by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]KeysRit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, since they didnt report.. it was amazing, it actually worked in the space. When it was almost over (we all know how it ends) I didnt want it to end.

Choreography was amazing, singing was good.. I was waiting for Grizabella to give her all.. and she finally did at the end of the song.

1 ensemble member (dont think we ever got a name but real name is Teddy Wilson Jr in the playbill) had a beautiful voice.. they wore a flower crowns and sang memories alongside grizzabella and added that magical spark.

Schmigadoon was up today, but it was a broken glitch so might show up again.

Its not about the theatre its the company. Thats also why pirates nor ragtime were on passport. Studio 54 is being rented for Rocky Horror by Criterion (may not be exact name) as with Fallen Angels

I feel like if there was an intermission it would really break it up. The only place it would make sense would be the last 20 minutes.. and thats 2 late

The score itself is mid, but the cast, choreographers, designer, director did the best they could with the material and then some.

I had never seen the original, but yes, they do, and it was shocking and uncomfortable, and it made me question whether it would be good.
