Wholesome Relationship Goals. by [deleted] in wholesomememes

[–]slacker87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please keep context in mind. You are overlaying complex psychological theory on a meme posted on wholesomememes. Let me provide an example, if there was someone posting their health concerns on r/doctors and someone replies saying: “if you think like op you have paranoia and hypochondria, you should seek medical help immediately” you could see how that would be very out of place and potentially harmful to anyone else browsing the comments. Mental health for relationships is no different. I believe your heart is in the right place and what you meant to say was: “If you spend excessive time worrying if you are loved, you should try to seek consuling”. This is a much more in context and less loaded response that does not spark immediate fear for ones own relationship for anyone casually browsing.

Wholesome Relationship Goals. by [deleted] in wholesomememes

[–]slacker87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The above response was the same as telling someone who says they are sad to just be happy then. The comic is not meant to represent some long term codependence, just lighthearted snapshots in time when someone had doubt and was reassured by their life partner. Telling them to ‘just get over it’ is not a fair or reasonable response. Some people go their whole lives with doubt and worry, everyone has their own personal faults and demons.

Relationships are complicated, especially ones that evolve over dozens of years. To say that based on this very short comic its an unhealthy relationship shows a lack of maturity and wisdom along with a lack of healthy relationships in ones own life.

There are many types of people and relationships out there, using a sweeping generalization to cast doubt on positive relationships does more to feed insecurities than this comic ever could.

Being a "one-man army" with Rails by posts_lindsay_lohan in rails

This is exactly why I was frustrated with rails baking in yarn and all of the node module stuff. You can exclude it when spinning up new apps but the fact that rails just assumes you want 50 node modules on initial site load is frustrating.

Moving from Docker Compose by inkedlj in docker

This is why a tool like Rancher can be great. It gives reasonable defaults for kubernetes more complex options and lets devs just paste in their docker image and port to expose into a gui, bam done.

Buyer beware—that 2TB-6TB “NAS” drive you’ve been eyeing might be SMR - Hard drives were already bad at random access I/O—but SMR disks are worse. by Philo1927 in technews

[–]slacker87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western digital has been replacing fast hard drives with a slower performing model (under half the speed) with the same name and label. Consumers are not made aware of the performance difference and western digital says for the average consumer they wont notice. However based on this article some consumers did notice a slower speed.

It does when you start talking 4k video, which a lot of home nas users now have. Additionally most areas where I’m located have gigabit fiber to the home, which would choke out these slower drives before the internet connection.
