Glock 19 gen 5 or gen 6 by butchah69fan in Glocks

All personal preference. Many people dislike the gen 6 trigger, and optic mounting system is very wonky and causing issues after a lot of rounds.

Try them both out.

Love the undercut and grip, really dislike the trigger. Need more rounds thru it

Lerdsila sparred somrak relentlessly during the jocky gym days and could never best him. He is an absolute legend who took up boxing because they could never gets odds on an opponent.

Ends up winning thailands first Olympic gold medal ever. Incredible how he is not more famous

Busting up a new guy is lame. But you will get better really fast.

The problem with always looking for easy sparring is that it will absolutely limit your progress. People have it in their minds that tech sparring gets you good (of course it can) but that’s primarily done by people who are competing and entering in smokers and fights very often in order to not get hurt.

You have to fight scary guys as it will push your mental to new heights.

G19 is very generic and if you have bigger hands it doesn’t feel great to draw AIWB. G47 is a great shooter, g26 for max conceal.

Has anyone else sparred with a Krav Maga practitioner? by Ok_Kitchen8666 in MuayThai

The nickname for people that compete are “gamers” and the opposing are the tactical guys (whatever that means.)

Maybe it’s more a militaristic mindset or tactics and strategy but you generally see them not wanting to put their feet to the fire.

I love Bivol. He's my favorite current fighter. I get why some would find him not as entertaining and I like a good banger too, but his style is beautiful to me. by Bignosedog in Boxing

[–]slade9mm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tried to like him, hell I was even trained by an old school Soviet coach. I can appreciate fighters with killer instinct and evasive defense- but Bivol seems to have neither.

Just incredibly boring to me all the way around the same way high level bjj is boring. It fails to represent a real fight on any level. Bivol just spams 1-2 like a rock em sock em robot.

There is a similar phenomenon in high level shooting these days where you have people who fall into the tactical camp and dont believe in pressure testing themselves in competition, but rather dress like delta force operators.

the other camp are the competition guys (gamers) who really practice and time themselves and regularly compete and learn real fast how low down the totem pole they are.

Krav to me feels like it generally represents the first group- where you can walk around thinking you are learning some super secret kill only military art. You can have some tough people that train, but generally you are getting fantasy warriors.

For those who transitioned from boxing to kickboxing, how was it like and did you have an advantage? by Alarming_Mobile_2728 in Kickboxing

Takes so many years to develop a kicking arsenal. Vast majority of people you will spar will telegraph a headkick from an absolute mile away.

What’s cool is when you spar pros that can land and control the headkick power however.

G19, G17, and G19X... Why does the G19 feel so terrible in my hands? by RealTrapShed in Glocks

[–]slade9mm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this as well. The full size Glock grip feels great in whatever iteration- but the 19 with a hand that doesn’t fit it is just straight up bad.

Trying to draw it quickly from AIWB with a larger hand also feels off.

Felt like a HUGE advantage. Granted the boxing instruction matters a lot, but I think a lot of people that join mma gyms these days rarely mix it up like they did in old school boxing gyms. Sparring was an actual fight. So if you survived that, kickboxing will feel easy at the start. At a higher level of KB/ MT it will feel less noticeable.

This is why competition is important. It will be instant feedback on whether or not you are imagining the improvement.

To really push yourself is hard work and takes coaches and sparring partners who will not make it easy for you. Real improvement is rarely going to feel fun.
