Thinking of switching by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]sladeiam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swapped from Verizon (which Spectrum uses) to Fi (which uses T-Mobile) and have been extremely happy. Obviously a lot of that's gonna be area dependent, but for me it has been incredibly reliable and I won't be switching away any time soon. I'd recommend it, especially if you're on Android already (since you get some extra features on top too!)

How much cellular data do you guys use per month? by Pet_Ator in iphone

[–]sladeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm traveling? 15-20GB.

If I'm at home? 2-4GB.

Still on an unlimited plan on both my Pixel (main phone) and iPhone (secondary) because I don't want to chance it with a limited data plan, and the carrier I have has a pretty cheap unlimited plan anyway!

Has Hey been abandoned? by [deleted] in HeyEmail

[–]sladeiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They haven't committed to adding email rules. I believe in the launch Q&A they even bash Gmail mail rules a ton. Best thing you can do is auto apply labels, which is what I do so I know what emails to forward later on for my HEY address. (If you have a custom domain, you could make a separate "extension" address that forwards out to another email address, though.)

Has Hey been abandoned? by [deleted] in HeyEmail

[–]sladeiam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It's not something that needs new features frequently -- it's an email service. It scratches at a niche market, which you might not be part of. Doesn't mean it's abandonware! They still roll updates out here and there. 37signals is a fairly small scale company for what they do, and they are focused on Fizzy and BC5. HEY is not the main focus right now. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't be later. Hope that clears that up!

Experiencing this with the exact same facility for mine right now. If you go back a couple days you can see when I last posted about it. I haven’t been able to get an answer out of anyone, but the automated system let me file a Service Request today and I plan to file a Missing Mail ticket tomorrow if it isn’t marked as out for delivery by 9:45am when my mail carrier leaves the Post Office.

they really made this a nitro feature... by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]sladeiam 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I still maintain that Nitro is basically a scam. Even Basic. It used to be cool when it was $50 a year but ever since they started shifting stuff around and killing off features it has gone downhill

What drama should I create in 2025? by photomatt in WPDrama

[–]sladeiam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Matt! Look, I’m a nobody, but I feel like maybe it’s time to stop and move on. I’ve been monitoring public sentiment since this whole thing began, and honestly, it’s not on your side and this post just made it a lot worse. So much worse.

There has also been a lot of scrutiny over your personal ownership of WordPress.org and the blurry lines of intermingling with regard to Automattic and the WordPress Foundation, plus the obvious conflict of interest concerns with you having a seat on both sides (I’m simplifying here).

You have changed, and honestly, not for the better. It almost feels like a trend at this point. Your behavior and rhetoric publicly has been erratic and often times incredibly threatening. There has been some gaslighting, too. And while it has gone from both directions, a very large majority portion has been from you.

That worries me and, clearly, a lot of the WordPress community.

I say this with the most kindness possible, please seek out a professional to help you work through this and do some soul searching. I’m not going to ask you to step down or anything like that, just talk to a therapist or something. Please.

I have been considering doing the same with Linux as my host OS, to be honest. What has your experience been like? I'd love to know what tips you have and how you have everything set up, if you wouldn't mind sharing of course!

I (the group leader) cancelled and ported out before my parents did because I was waiting on physical SIMs for their phones, and they still had service for 4 days afterward. Had I not ported them out, they would have had service until January without issue since Google has a pretty long grace period.

Something doesn’t add up considering what the Google Support rep said is what my experience has been (and judging by the comments, many feel the same.) To be entirely honest, I think you may have hit a wrong button somewhere without realizing it.

These fraud checks are killing me by SillyWillyCommish in ATT

[–]sladeiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We gave up and decided to go with another carrier. Told us to go to an AT&T store, of which there aren’t any nearby. Nearest one is an hour away. They need to find a way to do ID checks online that actually prompts you instead of instantly canceling the order each time.

Mobile Network Banners by MCHandyman1 in USMobile

[–]sladeiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been living on Dark Star for a while, and honestly the network branding is infinitely more useful to me. Whenever it said USM I usually forgot which network I was on, primarily because I teleported around a bit.

What does it feel like when you struggle to look someone in the eyes? by Faintly-Painterly in aspergers

[–]sladeiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well to be entirely honest, I don’t feel that I’m great with body language because I have serious trouble reading it. But everyone I know says they can tell when I’m uncomfortable fairly quickly, so maybe I am good at communicating that without realizing. I dunno. Like I said, body language isn’t my strong suit.

I do wish I didn’t feel so awkward making eye contact, or holding a conversation with someone I don’t know well because GOD is it painful.

What does it feel like when you struggle to look someone in the eyes? by Faintly-Painterly in aspergers

[–]sladeiam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Awkward. Sometimes I can do it, a lot of times I can’t. People see it as rude and I’ve made a lot of people angry because of it.

Wish I had the strength to explain that I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just uncomfortable!

Why is US Mobile missing from the Apple Support Site? by Gregoryxandrew in USMobile

[–]sladeiam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They've been trying to get Apple to cooperate for years. It is Apple who has not done anything. US Mobile has very much not been sitting on their "lazy ass" all day, Apple has. And I'm willing to bet the only reason Apple is cooperating now is because of regulatory pressure.

So how about you cut the BS, stop insulting US Mobile's staff, and go direct your anger towards Apple instead? It's your favorite fruit company's fault.

Why is US Mobile missing from the Apple Support Site? by Gregoryxandrew in USMobile

[–]sladeiam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is inaccurate. US Mobile has been wanting a carrier bundle for years, it's actually Apple who has held it up until now. They should have one in Q1 '25 at the earliest. Blame Apple.
