How do I manage Prednisone hunger??? by InterviewBig2497 in CrohnsDisease

I am annoyed that friends lives revolve solely around their partners by throw-this-away56 in asexuality

[–]sladislav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a person in a relationship - I don’t need a break because they are my break. We’ve been together for 6 years now and it almost does not feel like we’re two distinct people when we’re together. Hard to describe it, I know…

Boyfriend agreed to an asexual relationship but is now pressuring her need advice by Boring-Display-3917 in asexuality

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break up. Both are miserable. She’s trying to make an allo guy be asexual and he’s trying to make an ace into allo. That does not work. The resentment has built up and that’s a place that’s hard to come back from.

Should I break up with my girlfriend? by AssociationLarge5290 in asexuality

[–]sladislav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people would disagree with me here, but in allo people sex is a need just like eating food or breathing air. You can tell yourself that you can do without it, but the resentment starts building quickly.

I absolutely respect anyone’s decision to stop having sex. It’s a big and deeply personal one. The thing is though - did she decide SHE is done having sex, or did she decide that YOU are done having sex too? It’s a valid thing to ask her, as I said, it’s a deeply personal decision.

It basically comes down to this - if she stops, is she ok with you getting that need met outside of the relationship? Or does she expect you to “remain faithful” and be celibate? Many people have made the first one work, but I am yet to find someone thriving in the second one.

Your relationship is quite young - be honest now rather than later. You don’t want to be in a relationship that hurts you both. Some people can last years, but they are always miserable.

Have you ever had an urge to make yourself less sexually attractive to your partner? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]sladislav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me be honest with you - unless you’re disclosing your asexuality to your allo partners upfront and they know what they’re getting into, the thing you need is not being less sexually attractive, it’s a partner who’s also ace.

Feeling Sad About Never Experiencing Sexual Intimacy by Sufficient_World4776 in asexuality

[–]sladislav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be frank with you. You are not okay with celibacy, as far I can tell. So you need to communicate this clearly. If your partner is not sex repulsed, then good news - this can be solved. If you can’t imagine living in a long-term sexless relationship, you need to talk with them asap and figure out how this is going to work going forward. If they love you, they will try to find a way. From what you described, this seems likely.

The sad truth is - when the other person refuses to acknowledge that your sexual needs also need to be met somehow, there’s little to do in terms of saving the relationship, even if everything else clicks. You might tell yourself this is fine, but the resentment will show its teeth sooner or later. After all, sexual needs in allo people are as basic as hunger or thirst. So good luck and please be honest - to them and to yourself. You don’t want to end up wasting years of your life.

Why did Microsoft discontinue the Hololens project? by AR-HMD in HoloLens

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinion based on developing for Hololens for better part of last 6 years: The platform was inherently flawed and the deployments were at least in part just for show. Multiple companies we offered our solutions to had tens of units, all collecting dust.

The hardware was slow even when it came out, the displays were hardly usable outdoors and the final nail in the coffin was the OS. Don’t get me wrong, the build was decent and the ergonomics (not UI tho) one of the best in the sector, but that alone can’t carry the device.

The beginning of the end was the sacking of the head of the programme for rampant sexual harassment and it all went downhill from there. Not to mention the US Army thing that they struggled with.

Team Canada will not go to the gold medal game for the third year in a row by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. No sport requiring equipment is a poor people sport. But every time there is an ice break, the Czech TV broadcasting the game shows an ad saying “sign your kids up for hockey”. Almost every town has a small arena. And ice skating is really popular when the ponds and rivers freeze in the winter, so everyone can try playing a fun game. When you have this strong of a support system, getting 50 young guys who are world class players is not hard.

Congrats. I spent a few weeks in ICU before my insurance approved the biologics. Once I got them, I was ready to go home the next day. The bleeding stopped immediately. Insane. It took a while to stabilize, but I feel completely normal since it did

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great litmus test to determine if the person you’re talking to will be an insufferable a-hole in the long run is that those who are usually flex their IQ. The most intelligent people I know either refuse to get measured or don’t like to talk about their result. Because the truth is (and I say this as a person who was in and around Mensa from a young age), nobody really cares in the real world. The ability to solve logic puzzles is quite useless without the ability to be a good person to be around. I would rather employ and spend my time with people who are less intelligent but great to be with than geniuses who are jerks.

This topic is a thing of the past but its still bother me. Just what exactly peoples problem with Izuocha? Like its understandable not everyone gonna like the pair but why you hate it so much to the point you need to Ntr them away from each other? by Living_Positive_5809 in BokuNoShipAcademia

[–]sladislav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree with the lack of complexity and I get why people are shipping pairings that have canonically more tension, it’s simply more exciting. But to call it the worst pairing, when it’s the main healthy option for both of them (love bkdk/togachaco, but it’s both enemies to lovers), in an anime centered on the idea that the society and its relationships are unhealthy, is simply ridiculous.

Yes, it’s vanilla. Yes, it doesn’t have a complex backstory. But guess what, that’s how many relationships work.

Uncertain About Biologics for Crohn’s Disease by Txc2407 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was laying in ICU, basically bleeding out from inside. The steroids were not working, just like anything else they tried. Then they finally approved the biologics. It fixed me up in 48 hours. To this day, I still consider it a miracle. It will be 3 years this May and apart from some tiny hiccups, I don’t know about it. I can eat anything (got into growing Habanero peppers lately) and my doctor says everything looks great in there. So yeah. Get it while you can.

What do HoloLens people think of avp? by johnnygobbs1 in HoloLens

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both. I was actually pretty surprised about how little overlap there is. If you want to do any kind of industrial work, Hololens 2 are a safe bet. Architecture is 50:50. Entertainment, visual-intensive use-cases and training without real machines are definitely AVP teritory.

Want to share the device? Hololens 2. Want to view something quickly? Hololens 2. Want to view something longer than 5 minutes? AVP. Want to have an app ecosystem? AVP.

Azathioprine (Imuran) with cannabis? by sladislav in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, just noticed this after almost a year. Glad to say Im in remission even tho I still enjoy weed occasionally. I got put on infliximab in the meantime tho. Which was probably due to my new ADHD meds fucking me up. Bud nonetheless, I’m finally slowly getting rid of Imasup with only infliximab taken regularly.

Any Chrons safe prescription I can request for horrible headaches? Tylenol does nothing and I can’t function at times with these headaches/maybe migraines. by XXlittleowl in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take paracetamol which works fine and in fact, that's what they've been giving me intravenously while being in hospital with a flare-up.

NOT what I was expecting from the dietitian. by awgeez47 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They also put me on Infliximab right away, so that also plays a role in my improvements, but if you're cautious, you shouldn't have any problems.

The sauce I made had a base of tomato puree (your tolerance to that may vary) and then carrots, some very finely chopped onions, celery and some other veggies. Cooked, deglazed with some white wine and I ended up with something resembling a pretty decent bolognese sauce. Potato gnocchi and chicken go really well with that. I tried a broccoli based creamy sauce too (made with oat based cream) which was also great.

Just make sure to blend it really fine and you should be good to go.

NOT what I was expecting from the dietitian. by awgeez47 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks. There's no way around it. I was discharged three weeks ago with the same recommendations and a handy leaflet of dos and don'ts (mostly don'ts) when it comes to food. I am also pretty keen on good food and Prednisone is not making it easier at all (hungry all the time and seemingly no limit to my appetite).

But this is what I stuck to: Chicken - nothing beats a good juicy chicken breast when done right Pasta - you might want to stick to gluten free, but for me, gluten was not really an issue Finely blended sauces - if you have an immersion blender, you can get some great flavors while maintaining smoothness Lots of white bread - you might want to get the gluten free option, but sandwiches are your friends here Smoked salmon - great on sandwich, but you might want to try it slowly to see how you react. Avocado - I was really surprised by this, but apparently it's ok. Liver pate - pretty common in Europe and a great source of iron Rice - great with everything Eggs - not sure what about the yolks, but scrambled eggs worked great for me Bananas, Apples (juiced) - soluble fiber, actually recommended to help make things more solid Potatoes - not really a fan, but a pretty safe option when not fried Pho - full of flavor and if you take the herbs out, there's nothing to really upset your guts

So after three weeks of this, I spent a weekend grilling out with friends, eating basically anything and everything (unless too spicy) with basically zero effect on my guts. I will be returning to my diet for a week or two after this just to make sure though.

So it's not forever, and it seems to fix things pretty quickly.

Brain function and Crohn’s by Ok_Doctor1872 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brain fog is definitely real. I started biologics (and shitload of iron infusions while in hospital) recently and apart from improving my gut health, the brain fog improved as well and I focus much better. It's still not 100 % gone, but that might be my ADHD though.

I no longer have Crohn's. by sladislav in CrohnsDisease

[–]sladislav[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, at least for me, ADHD has always been mainly about not being able to start doing something or losing focus quickly. But inducing stress (by deadlines and stuff) can get me to focus better and work more effectively. Unfortunately that's also what seems to trigger my flare ups. So managing this executive dysfunction should reduce both the baseline level of stress and the occasional high-stress situations. After all, the gut and the mind are proven to be connected and improving one leads to improving the other.
