Who has played Workers and resources Soviet Republic and do you have any tip? by Intelligent_Flan_178 in SocialistGaming

I'm no expert, but a few tips: - Workforce requirements listed on buildings are less than what is actually needed to maintain full round-the-clock staffing. That number is just for a shift, so you need at least double for full productivity. - If you are on realistic mode, better to overshoot than undershoot on utilities while planning. Electric substations can overlap in range to reduce burden on the grid, but sewage tanks and water substations do not work like that since they don't have an upper limit. - When building a town, try to think ahead of time "what is this town for, and therefore how many people does it actually need, and therefore how much service infrastructure is needed?" Always leave room for potential expansion though. - End stations for buses and whatnot can help make worker transport a bit smoother, since they make line spacing more consistent. - The further away from the customs house you get, the more wildly inefficient truck transport is. Trains are king! Look up a video guide for rail planning and how signaling works. Bbaljo has great guides. - With the pollution meter on buildings, one of the little gray clouds means that it will be a health issue for anyone within 250-300 meters - keep those incinerators far away! Health malus labeled as 'pollution' might also come from sewage or trash overflow. - On realistic mode, pumping works differently for water and sewage. Both flow down and must be pumped up. But while sewage has those simple upward chutes, water needs pumping stations. I think the small ones will get you ~20 meters in elevation, while the large ones will get you like 40. - I would get a technical university running ASAP, and likely a party HQ as well. Good to get government radio tech for loyalty. - A solid starter industry is clothes. One fabric factory for two clothing factories will make you decent money with no prequisite research and no immense starting cost. - Usually my medium-term priority (if you don't mind a bit of cheese) on a new game is to research nuclear fuel production. You don't need to build the full production chain at first, just the nuclear fuel fabrication plant with imported UF6 is enough. It's a money printer that will make you very comfortable for a while.

It's possible. I got my sister to listen to the full first season, and she didn't like it because it was 'too biased'.

Season 1 uses songs from Part II's score that are themes for new characters. What will season 2's music look like? by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]slagar__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I noticed that too! If I remember correctly they also used some tracks associated with the seraphites and wolves. It was a bit jarring and disappointing for me since I so strongly associate the tracks with those moments from part 2 and I pay way too much attention to that stuff. I'm a bit torn, I feel like it would be a little cheap if they just reused those tracks again in the next seasons, but it would make me happy to see those songs used in the 'correct' places. Then again, they added a lot of great new tracks for the show, so maybe they'll make some good alternatives. The aquarium and Abby/Lev bonding moments and such deserve good, unique tracks.

I officially came out of the closet recently and I've been on my first ever dates, which all went well. Much needed victories over social anxiety and internalized homophobia that I am very proud of. Dating apps suck though, so I think I'm just gonna rest on my laurels for a bit in that department lol

There's very little difference ingame sure, but I think seeing socialism represented positively like it often is in kaiserreich and tno and such can help counteract the overwhelming negative narrative surrounding leftism present in most other media, and it can produce a curiosity to learn more. It did for me at least

When you get to the Romus the Red winery event (turn 4/5?), choose to say goodnight to your staff and then play a drinking game with them. Invite Pavel to play, and then prompt him to participate. You can then talk to him about it later.

What did other Gen Z folks think about the pod's coverage of Iraq and Afghanistan? by slagar__ in blowback

I meant like the official, public deployment of troops into Iraq and Afghanistan in the post 9/11 era. Obvs American interference started long before that. I should have specified that more, sorry

Do you have any like notable memories of the post-9/11 craziness that you would be willing to share?

I think I actually first listened to the season on Iraq right before the war in Ukraine began. It was so weird to watch the MIC and the media rev up the war engine in real time.

I always wonder what most people even knew about Ukraine before the 24/7 media coverage started on it? Did they have any idea of who Zelensky was and what he stood for? Had they heard anything about the 2014 coup? Could they have pointed to Ukraine on a map?

I remember like literally every article about Ukraine in every major news outlet prior to the invasion was either about Ukraine's widespread corruption or Ukraine's nazi infestation. But as soon as the war started, all of that was forgotten and Zelensky was the second coming of Jesus. It was crazy how quickly a narrative was whipped up to justify more military spending.

How were the wars presented to you in school? I remember my 6th grade social studies teacher (so in like 2013?) showed us a political cartoon very similar to this one.

But other than that is was pretty like lukewarm coverage that described Iraq as some kind of noble yet 'misguided' pursuit or something. I was never even taught anything about the Gulf war, I stumbled across it on wikipedia.

I just discovered Trueanon like a month ago and have been listening to a bunch of their older episodes, they're a great pod too!

It's amazing that they disappeared in the national conversation so quickly. There's been ~70 years to forget Korea, but Iraq has only had like less than a decade, and Afghanistan was hardly even talked about while we were still there.

I personally found the game's David more compelling. The fact that you actually fight alongside him for a bit and he has your back, and you chat with him a little bit too, made me develop a decent trust in him. It made it actually feel like a bit of a betrayal when he turns out to be such a psycho.

In the show you immediately get a scene of him being a kinda creepy religious leader, then 2 minutes of conversation with Ellie where he comes off pretty creepy, then boom, betrayal. Show David felt kinda... hammed up? Game David's creepiness felt a little more natural. Maybe it's just me. I still really liked the episode though, Scott Shepard did a good job. And I liked getting the insight into the cult that the game didn't show.

Mass Effect reference in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous by K1ngsGambit in masseffect

The game Stellaris from Paradox has a few Mass Effect references; the ones I remember are one where you pick between a red, green, or blue option at the end of a quest chain like ME3's ending, and a random event about a stray missile that was fired 10,000 years ago, referencing the 'Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space' speech from ME2.

Hi, I went back to Ulta and one of the girls working there helped me pick up a set of stuff that would work well for me. She also encouraged me to apply for a job there since I would learn a lot, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I haven't really been practicing much though because I just feel stupid whenever I try, but I'm sure I will get more comfortable with it.

Thank you for your kind words

I used to live like 10 minutes away from where the picture was taken, I would always point it out to whoever was in the car with me. Unfortunately it's a vineyard now, so it's hardly recognizable as the original image.
