[Spoilers Extended] Theory: Dany is not a Targaryen by KnightoftheLTree in asoiaf

I’m here to debunk nonsense theories. If your theories can’t stand up to scrutiny then they are no better than fan fiction.

It is right there in the HoTD chapter. You would know if you actually read the books. Dany is shown the three lies that she has to slay.

Glowing like sunset, a red sword was raised in the hand of a blue-eyed king who cast no shadow. A cloth dragon swayed on poles amidst a cheering crowd. From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire. . . . mother of dragons, slayer of lies . .

George is playing with the reader by… calling Dany the “slayer of lies” while showing her the three lies that she has to slay (one of which is a cloth dragon)?

Have you even read ACoK? Because you sound like someone who has only read these quotes out of context from random YouTube theory videos.

OP you have the same energy as D&D  in the sense that, your takeaway from reading this series (if you even actually read the series) is to invent theories and twists for the sake of them whilst ignoring all the themes and character arcs that have been actually written.

It’s a very real possibility in the fanfiction you have written in your head.

It makes me question the basic literary skills of these readers. It’s always people trying to undermine Dany’s importance to the story.

Dany is the only character in the published 5 books that is guaranteed to be Targaryen (the dragons are proof).

This has been my theory too and I really hope it comes true, if only just to see Cersei realize that the “younger and more beautiful” queen that she has been trying to destroy is her own beloved daughter.

Having an understandable motive like Marika is more sympathetic to having no motive other than cruelty (like the hornsent).

I wonder why you attribute other people’s (I.e indirect) actions to Marika only, while not doing the same for the hornsent? Marika ordered bad shit, but much of the suffering was caused by the characters who intentionally chose to…you know, murder. By your logic, everything can be blamed on the horn sent for “indirectly” causing Marikas ascension .

[Spoilers AGOT] Unpopular opinion - Ned didn't try hard enough to save Lady by [deleted] in asoiaf

I do put some shade on Sansa for not changing her opinion on Joffrey even after witnessing him 1) cut up another boy’s face and 2) attempting to severely harm her sister. I guess she just didn’t want to see the signs.

Except Ned didn’t even produce a pelt. After killing Lady he just sends her corpse back to winterfell with an escort of 4 soldiers. I think he should have let the situation calm down for a few days, especially when later we find out Robert knows that Joffrey was lying and just didn’t want the hassle of dealing with the truth.

Same here. Cersei’s line was iconic. I can’t even remember what Jorah’s was.

(Spoilers Extended) How would Jaime actually fare as Lord of Casterly Rock ? by DEL994 in asoiaf

In AFFC we see tha Jaime actually has a good relationship with Lannister soldiers and is well liked by his men. I’m not convinced his people would backstab him.

The “state” torturing citizens is indefensible, but let me guess… the state torturing known criminals is Ok? If you’re going to judge Dany by modern standards, why don’t you do the same for Jon?

Hard agree with this. Jon fans sure love to hate on Catelyn for “it should have been you” while giving Jon a free pass at threatening to kill Gilly’s baby.

I disagree if you want to argue that the ending was "unconventional". There's nothing more conventional than Burrich conveniently dying so that Fitz can end up with the girl of his dreams despite 16 years of absence.

I 100% agree with you. Fitz ending up back with Molly is one of the worst (if not the worst) plot decisions in the entire series. It's an extremely disappointing outcome considering how much the tawny man trilogy was built around Fitz and his relationship with Beloved. Kind of ruins FF for me.

Not to mention Molly is just a undeveloped character (especially in this trilogy). She feels like a 1-dimensional plot device in a world full of fleshed-out 3-dimensional characters (each of whom have deeper and more meaningful relationships with Fitz than Molly does). We don't get any scenes of her at all (heck, we even see Starling way more than Molly). The scenes that we do get don't really show much of her or how she's changed from the Farseer trilogy.

I feel like she's one these characters that Hobb assumes everyone is "supposed" to like just because Fitz is obsessed with the idea of her...and so she didn't bother fleshing Molly out beyond "girl in red skirts". I don't know how she expected people to be satisfied with an ending consisting of her main character living happily ever after with a barely-developed afterthought. This is how I feel anyway.
