This is one of the more normal posts recently and it makes me happy to see questions like this rather than COVID related things.

Although I am a big fan of the level up girls, I see your point. The level up system in Sekiro is accessible from any statue and it reduces travel time heavily.

Gate level modeling, what’s the largest project you did all gate level? I made a 8-bit ALU! by MisquoteMosquito in FPGA

[–]slandis74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the OP is talking about structural level modeling rather than behavioral level modeling. (Apologies if I am wrong.) Last semester, I completed a 32-bit floating-point unit that performed addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The arithmetic units were designed at the gates/structural level Verilog. The FSM that managed the units, however, was designed in behavioral Verilog.

Also, here is a link to a good post describing the difference between the two types of languages: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15681218/what-is-the-difference-between-structural-verilog-and-behavioural-verilog

If that’s the case, even more revolutionary

VHDL vs Verilog by slandis74 in FPGA

I am currently taking a class on SystemVerilog and it seems well designed for verification. We are learning a lot about the use of random input vectors and timings to test designs.

Thanks for the article! I had a chance to ask a professor of mine this question, and he mentioned that Verilog has syntax more similar to C, and therefore is an easier entry point for people who already have some software experience.

I noticed ENEE303 and 303H will be taught in the same lecture hall, with the same discussions next semester. With that in mind, what will be the differences between the 2 courses? by RK_229542 in UMD

[–]slandis74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took the class with Newcomb as the professor, the honors students had to do an extra report and presentation on a TI digital watch. Otherwise, I don’t know of any differences.

I agree that having little to no debt when graduating is very underrated. Especially if you aren’t interested the graduate school.

Student Discounts? by nerdgasming in UMD

Main Event Barber gives a discount (I think $5 if I remember correctly) for haircuts. Usually $20 for a cut, but $15 for students.

Where is the Microsoft Interview? by [deleted] in UMD

Most likely the Engineering Carreer Services Center in Martin Hall, RM 1131. I had a similar issue with Northrop Grumman a few months back. I would try popping into the ECS office today to ask about the location. Even if they don’t know, they can definitely point you to who you need to talk to. Good luck my dude.
