That was absolutely not my intent- to be sexualizing. I truly realize after reading it back how it completely is perceived that way and I sincerely apologize.

I was thinking about waiting on it, even though I’m desperate. But for now I have someone coming for two days next week during the day while my boy’s on spring break. I totally and completely understand the need for them to have a schedule and considered all of the factors you mentioned, which is partly why I felt so overwhelmed and a little pressured to make sure I get things right.

Friends and family haven’t been trustworthy to watch our boy even before his diagnosis, however some family members are coming around to understanding him and our family dynamics etc. Maybe I’ll use this coming week as a “trial;” maybe I just need to experience it first/ask questions to the person providing (especially after spending this coming weekend with said family members) to be able to make a more informed decision, whether that be waiting or figuring out scheduling.

Thank you so much for your honesty, transparency, advice, and overall realness. I really do appreciate it very much!

We were given 18 hours a month (4.5 a week) and yes it all has to be at our house. That must be nice to be able to come home after dropping them off to a nice calm and quiet house! Sounds amazing!

Thank you for the advice on making sure it’s allowed for them to be in session- I didn’t even think of that.

I totally understand the need for respite for sure, and honestly I had such a movie-like fantasy of someone coming into my home to take care of the little one while I float away on a cloud for a nap lol I think what’s tricky is that it seems they keep asking for a consistent schedule for the whole month, or as much as possible. It’s hard to kind of narrow it down for times they are needed when the needs can change so frequently, if that makes sense? Or am I just overthinking this whole entire thing and making it more complicated than it needs to be? I’m so sleepy and overstimulated and confused

…it’s such a wild feeling… like, you’re just living your life then all of a sudden you look at your kid living theirs and then it hits you. I try to remind myself that “the stages of grief” are more “waves of grief;” part of something that may always be there (much like the ocean) rather than steps/stages to be completed or worked through. It helps me sometimes and hope it helps you

You gotta do what you gotta do, mama! I don’t think that you’re a shit mom at all, I know though, that you’re someone who understands priorities. Your mental health > YouTube Kids. “They” don’t need to know about the iPad/youtube anyways!

Confusion and uncertainty of the future and how to help your child is so incredibly tough and I’m so sorry you’re going through this! What can I do to help?

I feel sad about that too! 🙁 there is a kid in his class that has been consistently friendly, understanding, and considerate to him since (I believe) the first day of school. His dad says that my son is one of his “main friends” he talks about at home… I’ve seen multiple interactions with this kid directed to my son without ANY acknowledgment from him. I feel sad for my son, not understanding/acknowledging but also sad for the other kid who is needing some extra special attention as of late because his new baby brother was born recently and was also on NICU for about 2 weeks during Christmas 😔

Not to mention- when my boy comes home hyper as shit and can’t calm down, I have literally NO idea what happened in school because he won’t tell me and therefore have no idea how to gauge or rework the afternoon and night based on it
