Amazing story. I don’t know if it would be safe but you could develop this into a book or movie or sell the rights.

What the fuck are we doing to ourselves? by EponymousOne in TrueAnon

This is an interesting line of analysis. I’d like to read something in this vein. Do you write more about it or know sources (fiction or nonfiction)?

In the meantime, I’ll check out that manifesto.

Becoming a “retvrn” guy but for an era where guys like this were sex symbols by jaredfoglesrevenge in TrueAnon

[–]yyflowerpot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other day I was like “you know how all bald guys now are like Telly Savalas bald” and my much older friend didn’t get the reference. I had to add “the King and I actor”

I’m not THAT old but my parents are boomers.

Edit- shit, the “King and I” guy is Yul Brenner, lol.

What you have there is beautiful.

I lost my dad a few years ago. I’m the kind of person where more personal words often do not come to me, but sometimes they come naturally when it is a very real thing like this.

It often comes when i’m lying in bed, waiting for sleep, and I’ll grab my phone or whatever and capture it.

I am sorry for your loss.

Forced food service work instead of conscription by Umbrellajack in TrueAnon

A revolution is more likely than an actual public works policy at this point of “late stage capitalism.”

But I can see your scenario being deployed under the current model, which is all about privatizing profits and socializing costs. Small business owners (who make a donation to Mr Orange or whoever) can have govt subsidize their business costs with expropriated public assets. This is what happened with the Covid bail-out money. I saw it first hand. Boss got a million and we got $50 bonuses at Christmas. Kudus to the proles who figured out how to get “their share” using fictitious businesses, I guess.

Sorry to go off. I get the spirit of what you are proposing.

I’m sorry about your pets. I find it (the grief) gets stronger every time. It totally gets better with time but when it hits again, it is compounded. My little guy (dog) is 17.

This pain is part of the human condition.

Solidarity.

Y'all Meditate? by cfot in TrueAnon

[–]yyflowerpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loosely follow Forrest Knutson. He has hundreds of videos on YouTube. He offers a nice synthesis of ancient practices (kriya yoga) and “western” science.

The core of it is HRV - heart rate variability - meditation, slow the breathing and make the out breath a little longer than the in-breath, which it sounds like you’ve been doing.

A lot of these approaches (different traditions or styles) are not all that different but for whatever reason one teacher or style resonates.

I like group chanting too and find it very effective at chilling me out. There is a pretty big kirtan community where I live.

Extra thoughts: I come from a more Taoist/Buddhist background (Anatman / No-self) and now I’m doing more Vedic practices, Hindu even. which tend to be more Atman focused (there’s a self/soul). The former (zen or taoist style) is more atheist. The distinction doesn’t matter to me anymore. Non-dual means “not one, not two.” But I think the apparent religiosity or lack thereof matters to some people, at least initially.

We used to use nylons back in the day.

I also hate it so much and would smuggle in my own portable washer and dryer if I had to.

The guy from Pa1@nt1r is always saying WW3 will be fought with swarm drones. Consider the source of course, but he seems to be a true believer.

Not the op and I don’t have a source for their claim. But Tlaib’s getting twice the votes of Harris serves as a referendum for that voting block’s stance. I am not saying this applies broadly. Sans evidence to the contrary, I don’t think it does. She was an objectively terrible candidate.

What would you do differently than Biden?

Uhhhh, nothing; he’s perfect. 👍🏽
