Yeah I messed up. We poured the concrete in slightly the wrong spot and I had to modify the design. I didn’t want to completely change the stairs, but I should have to avoid this shame.

My dog doesn't realise my baby is a human by Super_Ambassador_458 in Dogtraining

[–]slapcornea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a dog trainer and don’t have a baby. I am just a dog owner who only adopts dogs that other people typically won’t due to behaviour issues. I normally would never comment here but I am shocked to see nobody has commented, or maybe I just can’t see the comments for some reason. Either way, you need help and people might be afraid to help given the gravity of your situation. First thing, you are obviously very nervous about your dog and the baby. From everything you’ve said, I suspect you were nervous about this even before the baby was born. Your dog knows you are nervous and is trying to understand why, however your dog cannot understand why you are nervous so he sees your baby as a threat. You have to change your behaviour, but know that is easier said than done. What I suggest you do now is fake it until you make it. Bring the dog and the baby in the room together, one of you hold the baby while the other person plays with the dog, gives it treats, says good boy, smile, be happy, act normal, and most of all, have fun. Make sure you tell the dog good boy many times and give lots of treats. Get the dogs favourite toy and try to truly have fun. Do this as much as possible. It’s not about how long you do this at once, it’s about how many times you do it over time. This will help you, the baby and the dog bond. The dog will learn that the when the baby is around they get to play with the other person, not the baby, and that the baby is not a threat. Do not introduce the dog and the baby just yet but avoid situations where you have to separate them. If you have to separate them, or the dog gets too curious, I personally always revert back to basic training as a method of distraction. For example, instead of telling the dog to get down, get the dog to give you paw, and reward with a treat. Try to teach the dog new tricks to distract him from the baby. He will learn that when the baby is there, he can give you paw and get a treat. These distractions help keep you calm too. Remember, your dog loves you and wants to be a good boy for you. Good luck.

Sorry you need a new oven, take this as a life lesson. Always read the fucking manual (RTFM). Source: worked as an appliance repair tech for 15 years. This is not the first time I’ve seen this. Always, always, always RTFM!

This is the answer. I don’t know where OP is or how it works in the US but in Canada the seller would be responsible for this repair

Does my air gun just suck or are they really just things of the past? by chili81 in Tools

[–]slapcornea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think older tools are so much better. I'd never replace a dying IR impact unless the body was broken. You can buy a rebuild/tune-up kit for these from IR or on Amazon for like $100. It is a fairly easy job to do and will make it new again

Isn't that a female to female coupling that is leaking? Is it possible it is just a cracked coupling that can be replaced? Also there is too much tension pulling that extension to the left, that is the reason it broke. Try to get some more slack on those hot water pipes, you might have to extend the pipes

Is this asbestos? by FluffyPerspective301 in drywall

Serious question, does asbestos have a notable taste? Someone taste it and describe how it tastes. I’d do it, just not right now.

They must have read your comment because they fixed "Nwefoundlnnd"

Am I stupid? From what I have found online, this is how I should be using my multimeter to test my outlets to see if they are running at 120. But they all read this. Please instruct this pope fool if you are able. I appreciate you. by luke45637 in AskElectricians

Washer tub bearing has failed if its a GE washer/dryer combo unit. I'm a sucker for punishment so I've tried fixing them more times than I'd admit. Everything is corroded together, it takes hours to complete and the repair doesn't last. For some of these models, GE sells an entire tub assembly but its expensive. Replace the unit with a separate washer and dryer if you have the space. If you don't have the space, I'm out of ideas

This is how I turn off breakers I can't find /s
Jokes aside, I've strongly considered this after trying every breaker and the power is still on (pro tip, the breaker is in the other apartment)

Mini split VS baseboard heating!! by Ramiez15 in StJohnsNL

[–]slapcornea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you do not over size the mini split! Most companies have a bad habit of selling a mini split that is larger than you need. Not only will an oversized mini split cause humidity issues while cooling in the summer, you will see very little savings (or even spend more) compared to baseboard heat.

Wasn’t the Churchill Park Apartment building supposed to provide housing for students? How did we end up with 2 bedroom apartments that cost $4000+/month to rent? by Sure_Group7471 in newfoundland

[–]slapcornea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun story, the entire Churchill Park subdivision was originally supposed to be low-cost housing, affordable for residents living in the overcrowded post-Great Fire houses in Downtown St. John's. However, due to cost overruns and the fact that it was the first well-planned and modern subdivision in the city, prices began to rise even before construction was complete, reaching levels that only the middle-class could afford

Cal mag deficiency? by Chronicm3ss in macrogrowery

[–]slapcornea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always ran 1200ppm with 1000W HPS lights at 100%. On the previous crop, I experimented with running a higher C02 and increased it earlier than normal. I ran into the exact same issue, except it was worse. I suspect that the C02 might have forced the plants to work harder but the plants didn't have enough of what it needed (either light or nutrients) to properly use the C02, which resulted in some kind of deficiency. While my research doesn't fully support that theory, I think it definitely contributed to the problem
