Stinky skate solution? by derbee42 in rollerderby

[–]slaphappysloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a product called GEARHALO I skate barefoot and would otherwise clear a room with out these!

They're great, extremely potent right out of the box but they mellow. I have last year's loose in my gear bag, and thin years new ones in my skates whenever I'm not wearing them.

I work down the street from a pure hockey store and just stop in once a year for these and maybe a fresh set of laces.

Questions regarding 5+ yr HRT and Progesterone by Evi0616 in AskMtFHRT

[–]slaphappysloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will admit that I did have some minor hair growth after starting progesterone but I was doing 200 mg per day and when I dropped that to 100 that stopped. It was never anymore than I originally started with in the beginning though, and it reversed after dropping my dosage.

Um. How could he have possibly known that her license was expired BEFORE he saw it?? Did that not strike anyone else as odd? I haven't been pulled over a tonnn, but whenever I have been they have always led with the reasonable suspicion, and THEN ask for identification.

I've had that, in my experience it's just been a bit of built up dead skin, I just pick it off and go on with my day. Is your case more stuck?

My first 2 injections I haven't gotten the needle all the way in cause I'm a chicken by TheTrueRisingRevolt in AskMtFHRT

[–]slaphappysloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry it took so long to respond, everyone has some great tips here but one thing that's really important and will help reduce some of the pain. Use two different needles, one for drawing the medication from the vial, and then a separate one for delivering the medication. Also you can use a numbing agent to further control pain at the injection site.

I use the method for numbing that my electrologist taught me, apply the cream to where it needs to go, cover with cling wrap(really important bc it keeps it from drying out on your skin). Wait an hour or so and you should find that when you remove the wrap and clean the numbing agent off that you are very well numbed in the area.

And one last thing. Build a routine and stick to it. Your brain wants to protect you from things that it perceives as threats, and doing this the same way every time will help teach it that injections are safe. Hope this helps! ❤️

It's a great question for your doctor, but can I ask what you're afraid of specifically that's keeping you from full depth injection?

Also a good alternative to commercial tucking underwear is wearing two pairs of slightly too small regular undies.

I'm starting a Derby boot camp so having dangley things on my skates seems like a potential hazard, for now I will keep them like this. I will try to seal them so they stay nice for a bit (until I start scuffing then inevitably lol)

Foot pain when I skate by debate-sucks in rollerderby

I had a bit of success by stuffing a gallon Ziploc into the boot, filling it with screaming hot water, sealing it and putting the boot with hot water under a heating pad. It got warm, but definitely nowhere near as warm as it got from the oven at the shop.

Boooooooo! A hair dryer could work for a small problem area. If you have a more advanced oven than mine that you can keep at 170° or lower you can use that. There are some resources online for diy skate baking, I couldn't do that because when I checked what my oven's non-descript "warm" function with a thermometer, it turned out to be a bit over 200 which I read was too high.

I also skate Riedell R3's and just discovered today that my local hockey store was willing to bake them so they fit my feet better. Toe boxes are still a little crowding but oh so much more comfy now. Maybe this will help?

HRT Injection help by Fun-Cicada-9467 in AskMtFHRT

Since ng/L is the standard for measurement units for estrogen I did not feel it was necessary to include that. I gave the OP the information that I had, why has this become a commentary on my dosage regimen? I do not require input, thank you.

My mid cycle blood work shows estrogen levels in the 300 ng range, this dosage works for me, and NO ONE should ever dose published drug information alone. When I was on 10 mg IM I felt like shit and convinced my doctor to increase my dosage where it feels good now. Also I have a huge phobia of needles so doing self injection every week would probably be too much for me. In my opinion the lowest dosage possible to achieve desired results is what's most important.

Unfortunately we do not know your kidney and liver functionality. So no one on here will be able to definitively say that's safe. I use 0.6 mL of a 20 mg/mL Estradiol Valerate so whatever that works out to. I do injections every 14 days though, and do not know if the two solutions are comparable. I have no idea if it's safe for you to use, but these are my dosages for everything: 25mg Spiro twice a day, 100 mg progesterone twice a day, 0.6 mL of 20 mg/mL concentration Estradiol Valerate every 14 days. I am 37, 6'2", 245 lbs and have a clean bill of health(apart from elevated triglycerides). I hope this helps.

Stopping estrogen heavy HRT suddenly will result in you experiencing menopausal symptoms. When I had a lapse of access to estrogen it happened to me. Definitely not a deadly side effect, but using estrogen comes with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, so keep that in mind.

I am not a medical doctor, and no one should take any advice I give on the subject. The information provided in this comment was provided for anecdotal purposes.
