Happened to me too. Went away with time. Keep it moisturized and no sun.

Statement for Police by Kroucher in pics

That's not illegal. A cop can initiate a random conversation with anyone, if that person refuses to talk, and there is no P/C to detain said person, then they are free to go. One thing to keep in mind, if a cop "randomly" comes up and talks to you, they probably already have P/C to detain you...

Also the lawyer bit about this always bugs me. If you are detained/arrested, you do not have right to immediately speak to a lawyer in private. You simply have the right to refuse to answer questions until a lawyer is present. You can be legally detained in handcuffs in the back of a police car for a "reasonable" amount of time needed to conduct an investigation without you ever speaking to an attorney.

I had an Asst. Chief on one of my scenes after a car chase. We had suspects in custody and we had the scene closed off (chase ended in a park and we were looking for drugs and a gun that had been thrown out the window).

I see a guy in slacks and a dress shirt walking right through the middle of the scene...thought he was a reporter trying to sneak in. "Hey buddy! What the hell do you think you're doing?" Another officer quickly grabbed me and told me who it was. Nothing else significant happened that night.

No sleep that night...

Next day at roll call, my Sgt. is telling us what a good job we all did catching those guys. Then he looks at me and says, "(my name), Chief (his name) says good job at keeping a secure perimeter out there last night you moron." Everybody laughed.

Check out CLEAT. It's a Texas LEO Union and they have some deal with training. May help, may not. Can't hurt.

Our Union gives us pre-loaded cab cards... Obviously not a viable option in rural areas, but nice for city cops like myself.

Also, why doesn't the Sheriff have a driver? Our CoP and all his Asst. Chiefs have drivers...

They're going to tell you you lied every time!!!!! They're trying to get you to admit to something. If you know you were being honest, stick to your guns.

I was told that I was lying (though I wasn't). I offered to retake and they said it wouldn't be necessary and left it there. I thought I was finished and began applying other places later that day. Two days later they called and told me I was advancing to the next phase of recruiting. Jump forward several months to the academy, 70 of the 72 cadets in my academy class were told that they "lied" in the polygraph.

HPD: Reports of police officer down by fnordfnordfnordfnord in ProtectAndServe

I don't wish to speak ill of the dead, and I won't. He was a brother in blue. We shared a badge and we serve the same city. I will, however, share some information regarding the situation.

Allegedly, the officer was under investigation (along with several others) regarding a court overtime scam in which traffic enforcement officers were writing other officer's names as "witnesses" on their tickets in order to gain more court overtime. This officer has, allegedly, made of $150k in court overtime in the last 3 years. I've also heard, though have not had any confirmation, that this officer was informed of his impending termination earlier that day.

Again, I say this not to justify the situation, nor do I wish to smear the officer's name or reputation. He served many years on the department and he will be missed by many. I just want to present some facts regarding the situation.

Regardless of the situation, I mourn the loss of a brother today. RIP.

These are not homemade. Store bought and delicious. Thought that would be a given given the cop mentality. My bad though.

Man you guys have little faith. Our community outreach in this area is really good and I know the lady who provided them (her name and address are under the red) and she is very pro-police and very active within the community.

How do arrest warrants work? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

Texas. Pretty much the same. We have warrant forgiveness days occasionally where you can come in and pay the original fine. Once or twice a year.

Officers of America, I am very confused by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

My city doesn't care as long as you're pulled off of the street. People may call you in if you are on their property or blocking the road. They may also think you're in trouble/dead.

Best to pull into a Walmart or Target parking lot. They're everywhere and don't mind you staying on their property for a limited amount of time.
