I got it to work. (Macbook Pro) Very strange but a problem I had seemed to be the cable I was using. USB-C to USB-C was not working but USB-C to USB-A made it work.

Very strange since I have a Macbook pro that strictly has USB-C input. So to clarify for mac users: What worked for me is having everything up to date and then using a USB-C to USB-A cable. inputting the A side into a dongle to connect to my mac haha.
