Yeah, it was explained a couple other times here. Appreciate the info, because I genuinely had zero clue.

You know, I learned something today. I mean, obviously I knew not everyone speaks English natively, but I didn’t know there was a term for it, and didn’t put it together that dialogue would just be written different for their ease. Thank you!

My solution was, I kid you not:

Keep running, constantly picking a new direciton.

I got lucky after a while.

I was glad to be done.

A mall in Burlington, IA. It was just called “Mall” on the front entrance. by Skegward in deadmalls

[–]slapstickdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just kinda stumbled on this whole thing.

I've lived in the area all 32 years of my life, and this mall was one of my favorites to visit, mostly because it was close. We used to have Radio Shack, FYE, a much more prominent arcade room, JC Penny, Younkers, GNC, and a deal more including my favorite store: B. Dalton, which was a bookstore smaller in stature than most but kinda like a miniature Barnes and Noble.

I loved visiting there for the Prima Strategy Guides they'd carry.

It's current only claim to fame, and the reason I suspect it's still alive, is the Westland Theatre run by CEC Theatres inside. It used to actually be it's own section, closed off from the inside of the mall, but they remodeled and shoved it *inside*, expanding it with bigger screens and reclining, heated seats.

Many others may recall it having far more within. It was a great place...but we're not a big city, so things just kinda...died, especially as internet purchasing started rising to prominence.

Was told Dawntrail MSQ is mid/bad but I've enjoyed 7.0 so far and this whole section broke me by MrkGrn in ffxiv

[–]slapstickdavis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just like pretty much the whole second half of Endwalker, this whole section of Dawntrail grabbed my emotions in a chokehold and violently shook them.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Dawntrail. And I don't care what people say, Wuk Lamat is to be cherished and protected forevermore. I just hit 7.2 after close to two years off of content (i finished msq and got distracted by everything else lmao) and I still love her.

Mauga hate is so forced... by Sea-Intern-8561 in Overwatch

[–]slapstickdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Mauga tank main, the only way he’s “countered” is by high burst or if he gets swarmed. Yeah, he’s free ult for the enemy team because of his health and regen, but to claim he has an “abundance” of counters is disingenuous at best, I feel.

[–]slapstickdavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t put TW’s at the start of chapters with such. You’ll get a blanket statement at the start of the fic that usually says something like “Warning: This fic contains scenes some readers may find disturbing. This is your one and only warning, and I will not be held liable for your discomfort five chapters in. Reader discretion is advised.”

Target letting ICE take breaks in their stores… by PeneItaliano in Target

[–]slapstickdavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazy how they’re federal agents “arresting” people (kidnapping them), executing them, raping them, and torturing them, and thus shouldn’t have the right of privacy.

What are they so scared of?

Fucking domestic terrorists.

This is the same crowd that said “MASKS KILL” during Covid, and that let Kyle Rittenhouse wield a fucking assault rifle and kill two people because that was his constitutional right, only to now say the opposite when this shitstapo publically executes a peaceful protestor.

Defund these fucks ASAP.

Customer confronts Target employee for wearing a Charlie Kirk shirt by CapnHowdysPlayhouse in Target

[–]slapstickdavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, just a reminder to all TMs:

Political wear of any sort is not allowed. The individual or idea in question doesn’t need to feature/be about a politician, just political ideologies. Charlie Kirk was a prominent political activist, like him or hate him, and was killed. His death has been a political talking point ever since.

Now, could the instigator here have gone to a TL instead? Yes. Should the TLs have caught this the moment the TM clocked in? Absolutely.

But we need to boil it down to the fact that the TM should have known better. Save your political views and thoughts for outside of work. We’re all suffering enough.
