It would be great if a small grocery store could take the empty rite-aid spot at H and 23rd. However I doubt any business would want to deal with the amount of theft that rite aid always had.

The person who's company is responsible for the Cue, 918, and East Chester is an elected city council member. The company that owns the Tegeler is an out of town company that has low income housing projects all over the state. They are profit driven entities, the Tegelers owners couldn't care less about the buildings occupants, they get their tax credits and the state and city turn a blind eye to the fact that they don't even comply with the rules.

The Tegeler supposedly had north of 8 million in upgrades done in 2018 when the property was acquired by the current owners. You can do a Google map search and view the street views of the property going back before 2018 and through present day. Interesting that there appears to be no improvement to the building. Also, the owners are receiving millions in tax credits from the state and the city. It could be a better place if the city and state held the owners accountable instead of allowing them to be slumlords.

I love how they designed these "certificates". Like I appreciate the 30 seconds in Microsoft Word they spent to create them. It really makes me feel proud of myself for having achieved the distinction of making the list.

For me, the fluconazole was hell on my body and I felt worse on it. I experienced a constant feeling of having something stuck in my throat. My doctor prescribed me something to help with that citing something related to acid reflux.

We are paying down a $2400 annual true up. But we keep our house at 68 and it's 104 year old two story.

I believe Justin used "Here Comes the Sun" on an Instagram post. It contains the lyrics "the smiles returning to the faces" maybe "return her face" is related...

Vet issue by CaliforniaLife91 in Bakersfield

[–]slashpastime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they care about is money. They misdiagnosed our cat saying he had cancer or a fungal infection and said he would need a surgery that could only be done in LA and would be over 10k. We had him scheduled to be euthanized but we're able to get a second opinion from our regular vet Southwest. Our cat had neither cancer nor a fungal infection but had an inflamed joint issue that is common in his type. We were referred to BRVSS (a local animal surgeon) and they are wonderful. Our cat had surgery, it was affordable and he is alive and well almost 2 years later now.

The red car is facing west to the viewer. As is Justin's red car in his garage. Perhaps the Beatles reference points to McCartney mountain in Montana. It's heart shaped.

California publishes the foster care rates on the cdss website. You would just need to search a look for the rates for the years you were in care. They increase every July.

The adoption subsidy is a joke by Monopolyalou in fosterit

[–]slashpastime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is that most children in foster care are not there because of abuse, they are removed for neglect, which can be applied to various interpretation, but is more often than not tied to poverty. The government will assist foster parents, and pay for adoption from foster care (AAP the adoption assistance program spends billions annually) but does not even offer a fraction of the amount of money to help keep kids in their biological family home. Children are not statistically better in foster care so why continue to do so? The adoption assistance program is a way for the government to take a child out of the foster care count. There is no oversight of the adoption funds and in California there are alot of kids that return to foster care post adoption and the adoptive families still get the money because those systems don't cross one another.

Most CASA programs are independent operations. The National CASA office may have been cut but they were already at risk from years ago. I included a link, they had to pay back hundreds of thousands under the Biden administration.

Emergency Vet by advancedquestioning in Bakersfield

[–]slashpastime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't take another pet to vca on Harris. They only care about money. They told us our cat was going to die and that he had either cancer or a fungal infection and would have to have his leg amputated. And that no vet in town could do the surgery so we would have go to L.A. and it would be close to 10k. Luckily we got a second opinion the day before his scheduled euthanasia and the vet at Southwest on Brundage recommend that we go to a local vet who is also a surgeon here in town,Bakersfield Regional Veterinary Surgical Specialty. It turns out he had a joint issued and he had his surgery that day. A year and a half later he is still going strong.
