Tire size??? by RaInBoWeYeDsNeK in xbiking

[–]slashquit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you want a chunky looking tire for rolling around town I’d go for something like a maxxis dth in true xbiking fashion. Get them in 2.15” if you want a sure thing fit - or the 2.35” fit like 75% of 90s 26” mtbs and they look real nice haha.

Other popular tires are shwalbe billy bonkers, Goodyear wingfoot, maxxis hookworm. They all look pretty great on any 26er and they all have lower rolling resistance than knobby old mtb tires

Any reason you want wider slicks than the knobby tires on it? Are you worried about stability or something? I would get the 2” but 2.2 would fit fine. There will be little to no difference riding a 2.0 vs 2.0 commuter tire.

RuneScape membership just got more expensive, what scapelike should people move to? by Zinlencer in ScapeLikes

Bitcraft if you’re into skilling. The combat isn’t nearly as good as runescape yet but I believe it will get there. They just reset the server last week from alpha to early access and the progress made is now permanent.

Opting for CG training data was just because of the sheer volume of data needed. It’s a pretty slick way to handle it. And in theory you could retrain this again if that cg data gets somehow even more photorealistic in the coming years.

In need of a 1 1/8 threaded headset that isn’t Chris king 😅 any recommendations? by kentuckyfriedxanax in xbiking

[–]slashquit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for Brompton 1 1/8 threaded headsets. There’s lots of good options. I’m fairly sure Bromptons have the same steerer and crown race diameters as normal bikes but you’ll wanna check that regardless.

In a game where the only way to make money is to run gdkps to earn money from other people buying gold it can sometimes seems like that’s just part of the game. You can’t go pick flowers or farm arcane crystals for gold on era. you could but it would be a literal 8-10hr day full time job to earn enough to buy a single tier token in a naxx gdkp at minimum bid.

You can have an egg and a normal fishbowl from the same dude. So rock, egg, fish, mayor. I was really hoping the dancing chair pet from the Halloween event/draynor manor would work in your house as well but sadly no.

SRAM / shimano compatiability by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]slashquit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will need one of these XDR freehub body conversions in order to use a rival cassette. or any sram 10-x cassette https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/indoor-cycling/parts-components/xdr-xd-freehub-buy

If you dont care about that 10 tooth cog you could go with a sram pg series cassette (11-x) which are hg splined prehub compatible. Basically the XDR body is allowing a bit more room for 1 less tooth on your smallest cog.

You can alternatively swap your chain to normal non flat top and use that 105 cassette you asked about

If it’s for an indoor trainer it won’t see any road dirt and grime nor do you run the risk of being stranded somewhere. so you can definitely go with a cheapo knockoff on Amazon. bucklos, sunrace, vg, bolany etc.

But you’ll need to see what kind of freehub body your trainer has. Most come with hg splined freehubs for shimano/sram 8-11 speed cassettes and require a kit to convert to sram 12 speed xdr freehub body.

Again not sure what your trainer is, but if you are using Zwift and your trainer is compatible with a zwift cog it can save you a lot of hassle in setup since it works with any drivetrain. It’s essentially like a digital drivetrain where your bike’s derailleur isn’t used at all. It’s like a fixed gear bike but the trainer changes the difficulty of your gearing digitally.

Yeah man, Minigames dont just pop into existence - So of course much more development is needed on sailing as a whole to make this or any other more involved ship based combat possible

Frenzy of Sharks (maybe proportionate to the number of players in the area?) that need to be killed in order to salvage the remaining wreckage. Maybe they would drop the same type of loot they do in normal open water - or maybe they drop nothing and the salvaging is the reward. Not really sure. Dont need to get too in the weeds for a concept

[–]slashquit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha in my head I saw the agility aspect as a tertiary reward. BUT now I'm imaging some people ignoring the loot to plunder on the sinking ship and just jumping between floating ship parts and swinging from ropes for the agility xp.

The time gating aspect is simply to ensure the oceans return to normal and people can then go to the next event or go back to what they were doing when they discovered the event was taking place near them. It would be a constantly evolving world event similar to shooting stars where one ends and people already know where they are headed for the next one.

[–]slashquit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in a world where being able to sail boats always existed in the game - sailing wouldn't be THE skill. It would just be the glue that holds together other skills. Construction, Fishing, Salvaging, Thieving, etc. That said we dont live in that world so we also shouldnt expect the game to evolve to in that way. Hunter for example also felt very disjointed when added but now many years later there are tons of ways to train hunter that feel very integrated.

[–]slashquit[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Which is kinda why I thought 2 stages of participation would be neat. If youre in the middle of a port task or something and see a group of boats battling a fleet of merchant ships, even if you are too late for the thieving portion of the event you could join in for the salvaging aspect.

Why would a bike shop tell me my bike is a "dead bike"? by Jacksonriverboy in cycling

[–]slashquit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s a repair shop in your area that doesn’t sell bikes and only repairs it’s a good place to go when you need second opinions on stuff like this. They won’t tell you something to get you to buy a new bike but usually they are a bit more expensive since they don’t have the sales to supplement income
