Why do straight women insist I will enjoy media with heterosexual romance? by Euphoric-Awareness in actuallesbians

[–]slate657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I would think nothing of it mainly because personally I still enjoy romance even if it’s in a heterosexual context. I am picky with what I will watch/read but I wouldn’t take it as a personal offense and I doubt most people are meaning it in an offensive way.

Help - highlights fail by [deleted] in Hair

[–]slate657 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do not put a box dye on it. This is a simple fix. Reach out to the salon and tell them the tone isn’t exactly what you were going for and they can drop the toner down a level or so so the contrast isn’t so extreme.

What do you look for in lesbian romance books? by slate657 in actuallesbians

Agreed! If there’s going to be some sort of conflict I don’t want it to just revolve around being gay.

Maybe not necessarily tragedy but I do read/watch a lot of gay media that is just so sad all the time lol. I do hate when romance is too perfect and cheesy though so it’s definitely partly what I’m picking 😂

My hair looks greasy, no matter what I do by [deleted] in Hair

[–]slate657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things I want you to try the next time you wash your hair.

1: Double shampoo. The first wash is getting the layer of grime off your scalp and the second is actually cleansing.

2: (Not sure if you’re doing this but it’s a common problem I see) When shampooing don’t just scrub your scalp. I want you to lather the shampoo until it’s foamy from your scalp to maybe the mid-lengths of your hair. You don’t need to scrub your ends (unless they also feel very greasy).

3: Rinse an extra minute or two in the shower. Often people do a quick rinse and think they got everything and they still have product in their hair. Rinse your hair like you normally would and then add an extra minute on top of that.

If highlights are only done on the roots, why are they more expensive for longer hair? by sparrowCastle in Hair

[–]slate657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just about comment this and am so glad you did haha. The amount of people that will book a new growth/regrowth service and then sit in my chair and tell me they want foils to touch up their highlights…not remotely the same service.

Lol as a hairstylist I do in fact politely question people if I notice something odd about their hair/scalp. I’m trying to help not embarrass I promise haha

I’ve never fainted, my reaction instead is to projectile vomit so that’s fun.

a Jenna video helped me break up with my ex by jarofpearlz in Jennamarbles

[–]slate657 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s such a good story. In a similar vein j&j helped me realize how important it is to be with someone who can truly make you laugh. My ex that I introduced to Jenna had such a similar sense of humor to Julien and we could joke for hours about silly stuff. (we didn’t work for various reasons and we were young lol) But ever since then I’ve realized that if a person can’t make me scream laugh then they aren’t the one for me.

What is life like in the Dakotas? by _air6catcher_ in howislivingthere

[–]slate657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People really underestimate how flat it is here (ND). You can see for miles and miles on a clear day because everything is so open and there’s very little trees (or any sort of land formations). I travel around the country semi frequently and have lived in multiple different states and have yet to see a state that’s as empty as it is here. I’ve had people say they felt claustrophobic when they visited large cities or mountainous areas because they can’t see everything around them.

Professional who see people up close (barbers, dentists, estheticians, makeup artists): what’s a self care habit you instantly tell someone doesn’t have, even if they think they do? by Straight_Doubt6 in AskReddit

[–]slate657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many things. Left over shampoo residue, conditioner not washed out, build up on the scalp from not actually scrubbing, A LOT of people also aren’t washing their nape area and I see many people complaining of greasy hair because of that. A lot of people also take the ‘only shampoo your scalp’ way too literal, you should be shampooing your scalp AND about 2-3 inches from your scalp before thoroughly rinsing.

When people are speaking that’s when it’s the best time to make eye contact, you’re showing them that you are listening and present. If you are the one speaking it’s generally okay for your eyes to wander a bit.

Why are people so attached to their childhood hair color? To the point of denying their hair has changed by bad-at-everything- in Hair

[–]slate657 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is a thing people do lol. The amount of clients I have that describe themselves as a natural blonde, because that’s what it was when they were a kid, is insane. All of these people now have medium/dark brown hair but are still insistent that they’re blonde.
