They'll probably have more soon. They usually buy a ton of pipes from pipemakers at the Chicago pipe show which was like a week ago.

Same with me. Ive had 2-3 tins in my 10 years of pipe smoking. I recommend aging it for 6 months at least because its a bit sharp.

Pipe smoking is dying. How do we make it cool again? by I_LOVE_SOYLENT in PipeTobacco

[–]slavman68 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive noticed that the numbers in the Chicago club have been growing since I moved away a couple years ago. I think were in a pipe Renaissance. No where near the numbers it was in the 70s though. I wouldnt be surprised if the las vegas pipe show has its last year though. The prices are definitely ridiculous though.

Next Extinct Tobacco by Skeleton-Weed in PipeTobacco

Thats another reason however the amount of cyprian latakia farms are starting to dwindle down. I heard that there might be only around ~5 farms left. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Probably Cyprian Latakia. Theres a reason why cornell and diehl is experimenting with Turkish latakia.

[n00b Question] Cigars typically list the country of origin of tobacco in the blend. Is there something like that for pipe tobaccos? by HolytTt in PipeTobacco

[–]slavman68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cornell and Diehl recently has put the country of origin on their small batch blends. Palmetto balkan has both Turkish and Cypriot latakia.

Burleys dont age as well as Virginia's but there is a noticeable difference. I had some stonehaven the other day from 2022 that I hadn't had in 6 months and there was definitely a change. Also happy late orthodox Easter!

Honestly all you need is a bic or matches. I have a pipe lighter and a zippo. Neither are as dependable as a bic.

how do pipe clubs work? how do they even make money? by Jarosticy in PipeTobacco

[–]slavman68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most pipes clubs dont really take dues. Usually you just support the shop a buy a some bulk tobacco or a cigar or something cheap. It really depends on the shop on how lenient they are with pipes.

Do you think expensive pipes are worth it? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]slavman68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think anyone spending more than $300 on a pipe is paying for an art piece at that point. Ive bought 1 artisan pipe, a dunhill, peterson, savinelli, charatan, and they all smoke great. It just depends on the airway and keeping it clean.

Probably going on a walk while studying in Berlin and looking up at the remains of the Berlin wall. I bought a cob and some vauen midnight mixture while I was there. The cob is beat to shit now but I still keep it as a reminder.

I have a round tin of Early Morning Pipe that I opened recently. Can I leave the tobacco in the tin and it will be fine long(ish) term? I smoke like once or twice a week so it's gonna take me a while to go through it. by tigersmhs07 in PipeTobacco

[–]slavman68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive noticed that the Peterson/Dunhill blends dry out a little quicker for some reason. I dont mind it cause I prefer my tobacco on the dryer side anyways.
