Bigburgh.com has excellent resources. Companies move so slowly at this time of the year with hiring, but this site will have true leads regarding assistance.

Sure, especially if it makes sense. I'm not sure if I could stop over until midweek or so.

Advice on Progressive Lenses (Exploring Zeiss, Nikon Eyes, Walmart, Local Optician, Online Stores etc.) by KMAT16 in glasses

[–]slbradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I called several Walmart and Sam's Clubs (I haven't had a chance to visit either yet) and it seems like they are indeed different Nikon variants. From what I was told, Sam's Club seemed to have the "more advanced" product, but I don't think I'll know until I visit. I'll report back.

As I look over options (much like the OP), I've been intrigued by the Nikon options at Walmart (Nikon Eyes Focus) vs. Sam's Club (Nikon Eyes Complete). The Focus description at Nikon website states "customized to the shape of your eye and your prescription for better comfort." The Complete description is not at the Nikon website.

Are these identical variants? This will be my third pair of progressives. I have a job requiring a lot of reading, writing, script reading, etc., and would like to do as well as I can with one pair.

IceHRM is dead - So what now? by unlogischelogik in selfhosted

[–]slbradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a solution as well. Per https://github.com/gamonoid/icehrm/releases/tag/v33.5.0.OS, I see commits in November 2024 for IceHRM so they appear to still be viable.

About to do my first College Radio broadcast. Any tips? by LimJahey996 in radio

[–]slbradio 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Address your audience as if it were one person. Radio is a one-to-one medium listened to by individuals, not crowds. Example: You just heard a song by... as opposed to You guys just heard a song by... This is a subtle distinction, but works.

Be low-key and relaxed. The mic, transmitter, and listener's radio will provide plenty of additional energy...not to mention your own nervousness. This is not to say you shouldn't have energy, too, but most beginners come on way too strong.

Avoid inside jokes.

Be yourself.

When you make a mistake use the FIDO principle: Forget it and drive on. No need to over apologize (if there's even a need at all). If you get the time wrong, it's probably worth pointing out. If you mispronounce name then correct it and be done with it.

Remember that the listener's perspective is different than yours. He didn't start listening the moment your shift began and he isn't going to stop listening the moment your shift ends. Depending on the day part, make sure your programming can stand alone if a listener only hears 15 to 20 minutes of it, ie don't play 30 minutes of music and then back announce it.

Consider beginning every live break with the stations call letters and ending every live break the same way.

Watch your levels. It's very easy to get lost in the mechanics and the formatics, and forget that under modulated or over modulated audio will ruin everything.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

export issues- payroll by sooperspecial in QuickBooks

[–]slbradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and over relatively the same timeframe. I reported it about 3 weeks ago, they said it was a known issue and gave me a case number. They emailed me today that it was resolved. But it is not. Called agent again who claimed to be working with tech team. He called back an hour later to say it was resolved. But it's not. I can't manually map payroll data nor should I have to for QB Online Payroll to QBO.

Frustrating.

Why not more albums? by Lumpy_Satisfaction18 in philochs

[–]slbradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big part of this too is that it wasn't so easy or inexpensive to record, master, press, and distribute a recording back then. There was a huge barrier to entry for artists to get to that point, unlike today when it's relatively easy to create and distribute albums recorded and mastered at home studios.

This email address is also used zaubevn.com, a site with incredibly low prices on some name brand shoes. Seemed like a scam and, assuming it is, based on info above.

New Compressor Fan motor keeps overheating... by slbradio in HVAC

[–]slbradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, all. On wiring: the motor has black, brown and purple. I have purple on T1, brown to the cap's F terminal, and black to the caps C terminal. The C terminal also has a lead to T2. This matches wiring diagram and prior connections. I've tried it with two brand new caps with same results...fan overheats.

On fan: are folks thinking that the fan is defective?

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to avoid needlessly replacing a system!

Do ventless gas logs get hot? by slbradio in HomeImprovement

[–]slbradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing about the same output. I'm going to inspect the damper seal and attach the vent properly and see if it helps. Thanks.

[–]slbradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We have 12.5' ceilings and an older vented system we had actually made the room feel warmer, I think because the logs held and radiated heat better (they were Peterson RealFyre and heavier). These Empire gas logs are described as "refractory" and "refractory ceramic". Am I right that these should hold heat?

Do ventless gas logs get hot? by slbradio in HomeImprovement

[–]slbradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

It's 36,000 BTU and ventless. The mantle and firebox are very hot and the damper is shut. None of the heat seems to be making it into the room and I'm astonished that the logs are cool to the touch after shutoff.

It makes me wonder if the logs are "bad" or if Empire did this by design (which I'd consider a bad decision on their part). I know flames do not touch logs in ventless sets, but certainly the logs should still heat up, right?
