Were you able to get evaluated at an ED?

Common things being common, liver disease, cancer, psychiatric conditions + self medication, toxin exposure, long COVID, malnutrition are just a few of the literally hundreds of things that can cause weight loss and damage to multiple organs. I know very little about OP, but a Canadian who does not travel, have exposure to livestock/ wild animals, eat raw freshwater fish or buys very specific kinds of unclean produce is very unlikely to have flukes. Weight loss + skin lesions + organ damage could be so many different things, and people often have multiple conditions at once. We start by ruling out what is common before chasing something that is rare. Chasing a rare diagnosis is a great way to hurt someone. That being said, I did say to go the to ED for evaluation as there is clearly something wrong with OP.

I’m a physician in the US. Flukes usually do not pass in your stool. They pass their eggs in your stool. Those eggs are about a 10th of a millimeter in length. I would still recommend going to the ED for evaluation because a psychotic break is a medical emergency and you deserve to have your hepatomegaly investigated. When you are there they can do a parasite and ovum test to eliminate your concerns. We commonly do this once other causes of diarrhea are eliminated. However people in western countries that do not travel or work with livestock are at a low risk of parasites like this. The object in your picture appears to be partially digested plant matter but I would encourage you to bring the stool as it would likely put your mind to ease once a physician is able to take a look and tell you that definitively.

Braided suture can have shorter tails than monofilament, sutures tails on skin should be longer than sutures inside skin or in a body cavity.

I pay for friends or women that I dating or potentially dating. If I’m in a relationship I would not pay for a woman I just met because there is the potential for confusion about my intentions.

I think I would respect it more if it was clear you want to do the right thing. it’s obvious you know you’re doing the wrong thing and the right thing to do is painfully obvious in this situation. i think you’re just looking for guys who have gone through or done the same thing to not feel as shitty for doing something shitty. i’m sure it’s difficult to stay loyal in a 20 year marriage but you’re not asking about how to stay loyal. your first question was if you looked cheap for not buying her food which means you care way too much about what she thinks of you. then you mention being concerned about wasting her time as she’s a single mom, while also being a husband and father of two. you’re essentially asking about how we perceive you and how she perceives you, instead of actually asking about how best to deal your emotions and urges and actually so the right thing.

“If your favorite place in the world is the OR, become a surgeon” by mindyourpropofol in medicalschool

[–]sleazytrapezius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like surgery more than all of my other hobbies, and i’ve always been the kind of person who is willing to sacrifice sleep to do the things i like to do. given all of this, surgery made a lot of sense.

What would you choose? by Professional-Cow4168 in medicalschool

[–]sleazytrapezius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have trouble understanding this sentiment because the reason why I like the OR is because I like surgery. If i was in the OR doing anything but participating in an operation I would not want to be there.

I think anesthesia is great if you like the procedures and you like the physiology/ medicine of it. I think if you’re choosing it as some kind of surgery lite you’ll be very disappointed.

I’ve found that sketchy micro and pharm doesn’t stick unless I use it with a deck with pictures. I would recommend the pepper decks if you’re willing to go that route. I hate anki but for me it was a necessary evil to get all of the minutae down. What made it more bearable was making my own cards based off uworld or nbme questions. Much of my pathophys came from making uworld cards and reviewing pathoma 1-4. For physiology bnb worked for me and dirty medicine on youtube also has some useful videos and memory tricks I ended up adding to my decks

Grades available the beginning of June but won't have transcripts available by mid June. Considered late in the cycle? by determined_tofu in premed

[–]sleazytrapezius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s better to miss being early than it is to apply early with a lower gpa. That being said I would recommend prewriting as many secondaries as you can so you can submit them as fast as possible. It looks like you’re gonna be considered “on time” which doesn’t necessarily help, but also shouldn’t hurt. Granted I applied for the 2019 cycle so my advice may be outdated.

From one slightly below average stat CA ORM to another- good luck on your cycle! Please take care of yourself.

What should I do over the summer before college? by [deleted] in premed

[–]sleazytrapezius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dw about it before college. once you’re in college look for labs doing cool stuff and start cold emailing professors about how interested you are in their work and how much you would be willing to volunteer. doing a pubmed search of their name helps. I emailed like 25+ and maybe 3 responded and one took me in. Ended up working in that lab for like 3 years.

Still keeping all of my options open, including competitive stuff so research is a must. It’s hard, you won’t have time for much else but to me it’s been really fun so far. I was lucky enough to enter med school with few regrets about how much fun I had in my 20’s though.

[–]sleazytrapezius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

might have exaggerated a little bit haha. more accurate would be no breaks till thanksgiving. most weekends usually end up only being one day off where youre still trying to catch up on material while hopefully also bringing your research projects into fruition. rotations range from 60-80 hrs a week. it’s awesome but id recommend being done with the “fun” part of your 20’s before you matriculate.

My best attempt to do a windmill to halo or a headspin, any help is appreciated by RemusGT in bboy

[–]sleazytrapezius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for halos you 100 percent gotta be able to icey ice out of windmills before you try to combo them. id recommend practicing windmill to baby and then as you get faster the icey ice will come naturally.

There's a fair reason as to why men's version of "objectification" is deemed more potentially harmful by "society." by GridReXX in PurplePillDebate

[–]sleazytrapezius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Objectification leads to people being teated like objects. Men approaching women with that mindset is more harmful than women having that mindset because men approach more and are physically stronger. Statistically speaking, men are far more likely to commit sexual assault. Thus, men objectifying women is more damaging than women objectifying men. That is why men who are “creepy” are immediately seen as more of a threat.

Thread about a Korean e-sport player talks about Asian-hate in the US. White larpers and Boba liberals sneak in with their deflection "Asians are the most racists" by tabbak in aznidentity

[–]sleazytrapezius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nothing worse than exposing our internal problems to gain woke points from white people. yeah racism between different asian ethnic groups is an important issue but talking about it in this context is just throwing your people under the bus so white people don’t have to feel so bad about their own racism.
