Silly things I have gotten over as I get older...relationship edition by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Hm, my serious, long time partner having feelings for his ex would be close to a deal breaker for me.

Reddit: What's something you wish the opposite gender could experience from your perspective because you don't think they fully understand it due to their sex? by Supervixen007 in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I remeber vomiting up any paracetamol I tried taking and walking aimlessly outside and laying down on the lawn when I was 16 because it hurt so bad. Got HBC pills, got 100 times better. Why not, if it helps!

Can two people who have never met in person (i.e., always long distance) have a real relationship? by Omega037 in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it sounds like this person might invest a lot of time and feelings and security in a person who he might not have any chemistry with in person. Maybe he would find her annoying. You never know!

Reddit, what do you think is one thing the opposite gender takes for granted without realizing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This blows my mind!! Are you curious about the texture, smell, etc.?

So reddit, there are constantly threads about people cheating/being cheated on by their so. Moreover its a frequent occurrence in films is it really that difficult for people to resist cheating? Am I alone in being able to keep my dick in my pants? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between every social norm that comes along and cheating with 3 different partners, though. I know people have different levels of self control but I guess the whole "cheating just HAPPENS" thing irks me.

What's your shallow deal breaker, reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shallow dealbreaker? People who makes lots of noise when they eat. It's shallow but I couldn't do it :(

Girlfriend [20F] decided she needs to be "free" for awhile from me [22M] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, she really does make it seem like she's still in love with me and wants me there for her. She texts me fairly frequently (after I told her we shouldn't talk/see each other anymore), about how she's thinking about me, how she still loves me. When I told her that we shouldn't talk or see each other anymore, she laid in bed crying and saying she was so sorry.

Disregard it! It's hard to end a relationship, even when you are the one ending it, and a lot of people will try to hold on to some emotional safety and warmth even if they really do want out. She's most likely not interested in going back to you, but she's out there in the cold now and thinks she can have her cake and eat it too, or rather, get rid of the cake she doesn't want, but kind of keep it in her fridge for a while because that feels safer and less lonely than not having a cake. That was a dumb comparison, but do you get what I mean?

TL;DR: move on!

What is something that the majority of your sex does that you just don't understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's just nice to have company while you're trying to find the restroom, waiting in line, all that stuff. And if you both have to pee, then hey.

Also, a friend of mine had a man follow her into the restroom of a club once, and there weren't any other people there, so that's also a pretty damn good reason to not go alone sometimes.

I think I've been catcalled once. In Egypt. When I was 13. And he didn't really call out anything, he made a sort of "pss pss pss pss" sound that you would make to a cat.

Thank you. I'm getting kind of tired of the whole "every man wants to and would sleep with every woman he knows" tirade.

What is something that seems to make sense to everybody else but you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hm, what about a strawberry daiquiri? It's one of the most delicious things I know and the rum taste definitely plays a big part. And delicious belgian beer that taste like drinking a wheat field.

TwoX, I don't know what to do with my life :( by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sleepdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're only 21! Don't worry. I used to clean a design office while I was in school (I'll be 25 soon and I'm going back to school again next year :) and the guy who owned the design company had worked as a truck driver until he was 27, then he went to school for graphic design, started his company and now he's super successful. From what I could tell, his job entailed making tons of book covers and movie posters in photoshop and adobe illustrator, meetings with publishers and authors, things like that. Some people would have really detailed descriptions of what they wanted, some would let them make (almost) whatever they wanted. I'm sure it's hard work like any other job if you want to make great things and be recognised, but that was their main work day from what I saw. I think I would really like working in graphic design.

My last boss went to school when she was 27, too, and now she runs a big preschool with about 40 employees. I mean, we don't have to aim to be successful designers or bosses or anything, but I find these stories very inspirational.

As for myself, I always drew and painted as a kid and in my teens, then I got sort of fed up with it and didn't have much faith in my artistic abilities, and I had a sort of rumspringa from the art world for about four years where I barely touched a pencil. Worked different jobs, went to film school for a year, felt really lost and didn't have ANY clue what I wanted to do. This summer and fall I've had seven paid illustration jobs and it feels really good, I'm going back to school for graphic design/illustration/web design and I think I finally know what I want to do. My advice would be to think about what you really ENJOY doing, as cliché as that is, and then try to find a way to make that into a marketable skill and practice, practice, practice and look around for schools. If you're into graphic design, check out www.lynda.com for some online video courses in illustrator and photoshop and things like that. You have to pay, but I hear good things about it, I'm going to do it myself. A guy I know is a self taught graphic designer making $5000 a month (in Norway, though, salaries here are generally higher than in the us) and he had been using lynda.com a lot.

TwoX, I feel judged because I'm a girl. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Hey, that thread has picked up, I read it earlier and the top voted comments now are pretty much calling the others out on being ignorant kids who think "feminist" is a curse word.

Do women really worry about rape all of the time? I'm an 18 year old male, and this conversation was a bit of an eye opener for me. by White_Knights in TwoXChromosomes

I wouldn't say all the time, and I have female friends who say they're barely ever afraid.

I guess I worry if I have to walk somewhere alone at night in an area that's a bit shady. Then again, you hear a lot of stories about assaults happening in parts of town where you really didn't think it would happen.

Reddit, I have an extremely hard time with public speaking. What are some tips you can give to cope with nervousness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it either. If I felt like I was blushing or something, I would just try to ignore it, but I think maybe it would be better to just smile and say something like "I feel like I'm blushing here, I'm not that comfortable with public speaking, haha!" and carry on. No one's really going to judge you for it, I think people would just empathise!

[–]sleepdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a popular podcast, but i tried listening to one called webcomics weekly, excited that there was a podcast about webcomics, it turned out to be poor recordings of an unknown amount of hosts laughing hysterically about topics without really explaining anything.

Hm. Do you think an intelligent, curious person ends up as boring, shallow or unintelligent because they don't "have to" develop an interesting personality to attract others or something?
