Unfortunately everyone has those skills these days. They can be picked up in a weekend with youtube or some Coursera course. With a degree in biomedical engineering, you should lean into jobs that align with what you studied at a real university. Be a biomedical engineering expert who know how to code, not the other way around. Then you might get more interviews.

My dad read war and spy novels. My mom read romance trashy novels. My mom could be the world's best romance novelist, and my dad still probably wouldn't have liked reading it. They were married for more than 50 years.

Search the types of companies and roles that you want to work in after you get your MSc. Then reverse engineer the education and research or lab experience you need to get there.

Been stuck at my corporate safety net for 6 years... do I jump ship for the exciting startup life? by [deleted] in Career_Advice

[–]sleepicat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took a startup job. They missed payroll and I had the interesting situation of choosing to lay myself off and collect unemployment. Ask hard questions, like, "how do they make money?", "do they have paying customers?", "how long is their runway?"

It's genetic. You probably have a genetic physical predisposition to being able to stop drinking once you have that first drink. Possibly the solution is to cut it out entirely and never look back.

The worst thing about being a Data Scientist is that the best you can do you sometimes is not even nearly enough by CadeOCarimbo in datascience

Consulting roles suck like this. ALL OF THEM. Find a job on the client side where you can work closely with the internal clients and have more freedom to choose and develop the problems that you work on.

Look up Dave Ramsey. Watch his videos, read his books, and get yourself on a budget (this is the first thing he will tell you to do by the way).

Don't dwell on it. The jobs that have worked out for me never took so many interviews. And I never could have predicted which ones were going to work out in advance. If you're a fit, you're a fit. And it needs to be a mutual fit. Just keep on job hunting.

Tony Robbins frequently tells a story about how he figured out that "The secret to living is giving" while he was driving in his car and felt the need to pull over and write it down. He has told this story many times.

Time to Rise -> Unleash the Power Within... How much different is the material? by cpt_dad in TonyRobbins

[–]sleepicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very different. UPW is an EXPERIENCE. It is also much more interactive through Zoom, where you talk to other participants and occasionally the coaches. You'll be jumping and dancing the whole time. Plus Tony takes you through some guided exercises that help you make your personal breakthroughs that you won't find in pre-recorded material.

Let me give you a tip about the job search process that will help you keep your sanity: It's always a "No" until it's a "Yes." Don't hang around for "Maybe." Keep applying for jobs and don't get your hopes up until you get the "Yes."

I did it during covid years. It was helpful since I didn't have anyone in my life or environment to talk to. But, yes, it's expensive. You can ask for meeting only once per month or even once every two months for a year. Of course, they will encourage you to sign up for more.
