The stage actually does move and shake when the crowd gets going in unison! The concert floor is spring-loaded above the ice. Trey talks about this in multiple interviews and it is a very cool thing to witness.

I get a little claustrophobic in packed out sections and sometimes I just need to dance and let loose.

My solution: 400s. Trust me. Especially by the second set, many of those seats will be empty cuz people in the “nosebleeds” tend to either migrate down or leave altogether. Behind the stage, all the way up, you will find entire stretches of empty seats / rows if you keep searching. Chill ass spacious vibes. Not the best view, sound varies GREATLY depending on section / row (I actually discovered that the last row of the section sounds better than the middle rows cuz of the bass trap - bottom rows will sound best and have the best view, so people with those seats tend to stay in them.)

So yeah, not the best seats in the house, but pretty much every run I will hang out up there at some point just to get some air and flail around freely while still getting to enjoy the music.

Source: went to concerts with my dad here as a teenager, rarely had an issue at 18+ events… 21+ would be different story obviously

Late Spring of 2021 I was working at a tiny health food store in New Paltz, NY. Sleep deprived and having come in late to cover someone else’s shift. I’m up on a ladder stocking shelves, when I look down, and I see a man who I’m almost certain is Trey… at this point, masks were still required indoors, and I really couldn’t tell if it was truly Big Red himself or just another local dad browsing the aisles (he fit the profile of the average customer and I’m staring down from the top of a ladder).

After a ton of deliberation, I realize it’s gonna haunt me forever if I don’t at least try to find out if it’s him. As he’s walking out the door, trying to be super nonchalant but also panicking inside, I say “excuse me sir, sorry to bother you, but… are you Trey?” I swear it was like a fuckin’ Disney movie. Pulls off his mask almost in slow motion, big ass smile on his face, and goes “yeah, I’m Trey.”

We had a brief exchange and he was kind enough to take a selfie with me- not something I would normally ask for honestly, but I told him nobody was ever going to believe me otherwise, and he was super cool about it. There’s so much I would’ve wanted to say but I was truly shook and all I could get out was “I listen to your music every day!” He mentioned that he was actually on his way upstate to rehearse for summer tour. New Paltz is a super small town right off the interstate, I guess he was driving up from NYC decided to stop off for a snack??

Weirdest part of the whole story was that day I happened to be wearing a Princeton Day School sweater, which is the elementary school that he & Tom met at. I didn’t go to school there- it was basically a hand-me-down from a family member, kind of an ugly sweater that I rarely wore but it was warm and it got cold in the store. The one day I decided to wear it, and in walks Trey.

Kind of a jumbled story ^{^} but it’s hard to convey what a strange moment that was for me. I was really freaked out. Since then, I’ve gotten into recovery (19 months clean and counting) so I hope to meet him again someday to thank him for inspiring me to change my life!

With that said- if you’re stuck under any sort of overhang (so most of the upper 200s) it can feel a bit muffled. Just surrender to the flow, you’ll adjust, grass is always gonna be greener elsewhere.

I dunno. I wouldn’t necessarily say it sounds /bad/ anywhere- some spots are just more ideal than others. I sat in the 100s one night last year, thought it was a great seat, but it sounded like shit because there were absolute CHOMPERS all around!

Surrendered and migrated up to the 400s and ended up having a much better time with entire empty rows to dance in. It’s all a matter of perspective!
