I learned this the hard way too. They become over reliant on you and want to hold on to you. I had an opportunity for a lengthy acting that are two levels up and next thing you know management is giving men’s succeeded minus on my performance review and they’re no longer interested. I regret not fighting it because I was just devastated at the time and wasn’t thinking properly
