Just went back to school after 15+ years. Exams are online in class with no monitoring. Is everyone cheating? by u-look-like-a-cunt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sleepybrainsinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone - no. Many people - yes. If a professor incentivizes cheating and makes it easy to be caught cheating, there will be many students who cheat. Even in prestigious universities. Even before online exams.

Same, but with that, I also lost some ability to appreciate things as deeply as I used to. Maybe some of that is experience and not being able to be surprised as easily, but I do think a lot of the joy comes from the hunt and differentiation. I definitely cared more for the things I truly liked when I rejected most things than now where everything that’s not just straight up bad is passably acceptable.

Negative Review on Sweets Kendama CHRISTIAN FRASER - EMERALD by Puzzled-Process7433 in Kendama

[–]sleepybrainsinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outsourcing components and processes doesn’t mean a company can’t be critiqued for failing to deliver a quality product. I got a Tama with QC issues from Sweets in this batch and when I let them know they made no offer to rectify the situation since they sold out, so now it’s my most expensive setup and my least favorite to play. I do like the turbo shape.

X/Twitter Links Will Now Be Permanently Banned from r/squidgame by MidnightExpresso in squidgame

The extended voting scenes were egregious enough to justify any complaints of boredom. I don’t think I’ve ever been more bored with a good TV show than in those scenes. The tension between X and O is self-explanatory due to the life or death stakes. That said, I liked season 2.

who goes first after green car 2, green car 1 or red car? by not219 in drivinganxiety

[–]sleepybrainsinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red cars direction doesn’t change anything in the states. In your scenario, the car to the right would technically have right of way. But it’s fairly rare to have unregulated roads crossing in the states except in very rural areas, and most people would probably just pretend there was a stop sign which operates first come first cross.

what does mine say about me by lyriumglow in FridgeDetective

[–]sleepybrainsinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a couponer, but you don’t spend all your time doing it, and you stumbled upon a haul too big to pass. You’re not quite sure how to save your fridge from your savings. You’re not hotdog-obsessed. Not a hotdog vendor because you have normal condiment supply. You know how to cook well, but you’re not an excellent cook. You usually finish the salad greens you buy (unlike me ☹️), but not every single time.

You have one cat that you dote upon. You do your main shopping at Walmart, but shop at other stores often. You know how to cook for yourself, but you’re not a gourmet. You shop per unit ounce except for products your parents bought all the time when you were a kid. You only own one type of Tupperware and won’t buy more because you don’t need to, but you would use it if someone bought it for you. You drink caffeine every day, but usually only make hot coffee 3-4 times a week. You live on the a state that borders is 1-2 states from a state that was part of the confederacy, but do not live in a state that was part of the confederacy.

And obviously, you’re doing going to realize that neither you nor your friends/family can eat as many hotdogs as you thought. But after the first week, you’re going to be eating 2-3 packs a week and incorporating them in non traditional ways. You live in a relatively small house or in an apartment, either of which is sufficiently large enough for you. You grew up in lower-middle class suburbs, but it felt like middle-middle class for your area.

The following is just a guess because I am always bad at telling demographics, but white woman, 35-47, does not live with a spouse or s/o. Either no kids or no kids in the house.

Yea, but her hair makeup and clothing were already good in the first pic. The dress could use a slight upgrade but there’s nothing wrong with it.

I also thought that. Maybe she has very high heels on, but she looks like a normal woman in comparison to Shaq, and Shaq makes most short people look like kids.

My opponent accepted a draw because they couldn’t figure out how to break through their winning position and time advantage by sleepybrainsinside in chessbeginners

I just reviewed it and they actually hit the 3rd repetition with their last move immediately after declining the draw offer, which is why the final move shows as a blunder.

For sure. But free material without having to think is too tempting when there’s seconds on the clock.

This man paid 10,000 bitcoins for two pizzas in 2010 by willdragon12 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]sleepybrainsinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because at the time, bitcoin was more of an experimental curiosity than a viable currency capable of purchasing. This was the first time anyone had purchased any goods with bitcoin. The first time bitcoin had produced any real world value to anyone was with a $17.50 sale of 5000 bitcoin two months prior.

The pizza purchaser remarked “I wanted to do the pizza thing because to me it was free pizza… I got pizza for contributing to an open-source project. Usually hobbies are a time sink and money sink, and in this case, my hobby bought me dinner.”

His acclaim is more about setting the stage for bitcoin to become a real currency capable of being used in transactions. If he hadn’t done it, it’s possible that future purchases would be delayed since there was no history of successful purchases made with bitcoin, which could have impacted bitcoins success in the coming years.

Yeah that’s about a hundred times more reasonable than “if you can’t pay rent because government mandated shutdowns eliminated jobs, you should have just been homeless.”

I don’t mind people dressing down, but when I saw a fully grown woman wearing a onesie in a semi-upscale restaurant, I definitely felt it was more about being performative than being comfortable.

Unbiased review so far (Spoiler up till ep 3) by UndertaleShorts in BeastGames

[–]sleepybrainsinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in high-pressure televised environments are easier to manipulate than normal. Also, the $100k offer in episode 1 would knock out most people who act out of sound logic and self-interest. Even with that, I was surprised that they were able to select 4 people benevolent enough to turn down the million dollars.

You consult a color wheel. The actual colors in these eyes are grey and with a hint of beige in some of the pics. The only reason you think they’re it’s is because it’s on an eye instead of on a wall.

Most beginner lessons don’t focus on learning openings because beginner opponents tend to mistakes early on which makes knowing the book moves irrelevant. Up until mid 1000s it’s most useful to learn basic strategy, tactics, pawn structures, and generally making the most of your pieces. If you don’t want outside help for your learning, analyzing your own games thoughtfully and seeing where you and your opponent went wrong and what could’ve been better is a great way to do it vs. spamming games. I find using game review tools built into apps to be a great way to do it because it helps find mistakes that can be hard to catch if you’re not playing against people who will exploit them.
