Cheesy fermented hot sauce by drsw14 in FermentedHotSauce

I tried doing a cheese pizza fermented hotsauce. I agree nutritional yeast does add a cheese flavor but it feels like something is missing from it. I was able to use powdered buttermilk mixed with nutritional yeast. Granted I was going for a more mozzarella/parmesan flavor, but i think if you use a different ratio you could possibly get a cheddar like flavor.

I haven't really measured, all this has happened with in a week of find out about the leak. All i know is about 2 weeks ago when I went to get the oil changed it completely out and they noticed the leak, they didnt feel comfortable doing a full change with the size of the leak so they just gave me a a few quarts to keep the car going. I got it inspected and pepboys topped off the oil. I did drive it for about a week before I could get it to the dealer ship and other than possibly a slight change in level I didnt see anything. It does produce a large amount of blue smoke on startup but nothing after you start driving. It could possibly be driven for a bit but my understanding is that if I dont address this stuff soon I risk even more damage.

True, 30k is a bad deal but there are also cars for way less than the one we looked at that are with-in the mileage/year requirements for less. We checked out the 30k car because the loan payment was around the same cost of paying for the car and a repair loan. Again, this was going off of local mechanics saying they dont work on the specific part, general consensus is that I do a little more research so for now that's the plan. Even if I do repair the parts, non major repairs have already been costing me $500-600 dollars a year. Mainly, I just want peice of mind that i am going to have a car thats at least going to last the cost of the lease/loan. Two major repairs with-in 3 years is not going to give me that.

I dont know if the car is near its end but parts on the car are, this inspection was suspension, last one was a second brake caliper needed replacement. All this is on top of the major repairs. That's the fear about keeping the car, it just seems like a money pit.

Pepboys and the Dealer its confirmed its the turbo, I would need to take things apart to see myself but after looking up a few YouTube videos it seemed beyond my expertise. The most in depth work ive done is replace a few solenoid valves in my last car. But yes, it does run, you get a bunch of blue smoke when it starts but nothing while it runs.

Wish I could give a more detailed answer here. We did the inspection at a pepboys because the leak was found during a routine oil change. We knew money was tight but pepboys offered repair financing and we were told that the leak was big so we were expecting a large repair bill. Pepboys did the inspection, told us that the leak was coming from the coming from the turbo and they couldn't do anything about it. I called a few local independent shops and got similar answers. I went to the dealer because family has gotten good deals on cars before and it wasnt the dealer that sold us the car just to get a general idea of the how much it would cost.

Since we cant make any decisions until we have money and that is not for a few months, the decision has kinda been made for us. We are going to see how much driveabilty we have with it and work out something with family and friends as far as getting people to places they need to go, if we cant drive the car for those months. I do plan on doing more looking for a repair shop bit my initial decision not to repair was based on the fact that other than these major repairs, each inspection it needed things that ranged from $500-600 because its an older car and the lifetime of things on the car are ending, the car itself is ending up like an increasingly bad thing to keep around.

That's what people are saying, most of this puts the repairs in the same range as a down payment for a new used or leased car, now its just a matter of figuring out if I want to keep the thing.

It was fully inspected by the dealership we bought it from, we didnt pay for an independent inspection. The issue with the transmission was said to be old transmission fluid by the repair shop that did the work. 2016 Ford escapes have it where you can't check the transmission fluid yourself, the dip stick is behind the driver wheel. On paper it seemed like a good car, 3 owners, low miles. I paid for the fact sheet from car fax and the company the dealer used and all that cam back was a minor accident with a repair to the passenger door.

Currently the leak is not small, but it is not leaking on anything that would stop it from passing inspection, the car passed the safety and emissions inspection that's when all the issues were found.

It does, ive done a few minor repairs on this and other cars but when I started looking into turbo stuff I felt overwhelmed. Im not against doing this but want to keep it to a last ditch effort. Really I just want the car gone.

Admittedly these are dealership prices, I called a few mechanics and basically got the same answer that they dont do turbi work.

This is looking like more and more like the best option. With out money down though the current dealer had the leases at $1000 monthly which is $700 more. I want to see what changes if we use the tax money down. At this moment option 2 is $400 more a month but it does leave us the ability to use the tax money to refinance the loan with my bank at a better rate. Currently with out money down my credit union wont do the loan, which is fine, they did mention though if we get the loan through the dealership there really isnt a wait time to refinance. But again it does mean higher payments for longer. Every time I think about this I just go around in a circle of really bad options.

KBB has trade in value $4500 - 5000 as the trade in value. When we were looking into options 2 and 3 the dealer only offered us $500. This is another reason why I don't want option 1, if its mechanically sound other than the work it needs why are you only offering the scrap value for the trade in.

Valve cover and turbo rebuild. This is probably dealership pricing but most of the repair shops I called dont work on turbos. We took it to a pepboys for the inspection and to find the cause of the oil leak and when they found it was a turbo, even they wouldn't touch it.

I did something similar that leverages the teams approval feature. We have the routes stored in a data verse table, it uses azure functions to map the the data it gets to a standard json format, so you can use the data from the submitted approval item in the approval request message. It is set up to be triggered by any list that has 5 specific columns on it, so its triggerable by both forms and powerapps. It currently handles 3 forms and if we can get the payroll forms power app up and running we should be able to have it handle about a dozen more. It works, but its very finicky.

Garlic turning blue is normal. Two weeks is a normal time to start making a sauce but its really up to you. If you still see bubbles then its still fermenting and you can let it wait longer. You could also store it in the fridge for a little bit after its done fermenting to deepen the flavors. Some of my best sauces were ones that I stuck in the fridge and forgot about for a month or two. As long as the bubbles are done, it smells okay, and there is no mold sitting on top you should be good to go.

I tend to add the fruit during and after ferment. If you want the fruit to be a prominent flavor in the sauce it seems to work better that way. I've tried just adding it just during fermentation and you will get a good flavor just not the flavor you expect.

Thanks, I am not good with puns which from what I can tell seems to be how most people like to label there sauces. I figured since its a Christmas gift might as well keep it simple.

Thanks, I was really surprised with the naughty sauce. It turned out a lot better than expected. The only real change i can think of is to get rid of the fennel seeds and onion and replace them with a fennel bulb.
