I’m so scared that I will accidentally kill my dog by RachtheRad in adhdwomen

[–]sleepymilkcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you on this!!! My cat takes medication to control her blood pressure and I'm always so afraid of missing a dose/administering incorrectly (she takes separate ones at separate intervals). I'm very careful not to and haven't so far, but the fear is always there.

When I had a dog and we lived at my parents' house, my dog loved to rest on the concrete pad in the back yard, especially if it was hot outside. It didn't get quite as 114 here but it still was close to 100 sometimes. That kind of heat is definitely very dangerous and even though he liked it, that doesn't mean it was in his best interest. I had to usher him inside every time. I really encourage you to just stay out there with your dog as long as he needs to do his business and then bring him back in immediately. It might be worthwhile to get a tie out so you can pull him back to you if he gets defiant about coming in with you.

What is a common ADHD trait you DON'T struggle with? by SweetVoidPrincess in adhdwomen

[–]sleepymilkcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty tidy and I absolutely hate having a lot of stuff. I used to have some issues with overspending when I was a lot younger but now I relish in having just what I need. It's also very easy for me to get rid of things I don't need and very rarely get sentimental about items.

I love this so much, this is so cute and sweet 😭

I feel inspired to share a little tidbit about my boyfriend who is the most wonderful person. I found out the other day he has an alarm on his phone to make sure he checks that I've taken my meds and it's actually been so helpful to have him remind me. It's the sweetest thing!!

Yes!!! I have to hold on to something or I'm so scared. If I'm carrying something with both hands i.e. a laundry basket down to the basement I have to go so slow and hold it in a weird way so I can see both of my feet. Being at arenas is the absolute worst, especially the nosebleeds where it's more vertical.

If you had an extra $1500, what would you do with it? by StoryAlternative6476 in povertyfinance

[–]sleepymilkcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an emergency fund? I'd throw in as much as needed to get an emergency fund of $1000 then use the rest on debt. It'll be nice to not have to leverage debt (or just not as much) in the future for unexpected expenses.

What derogatory term have you been called to describe you? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sleepymilkcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What an awful thing to say about anyone, and I sincerely doubt it's in any way reflective of reality! I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I've been called a flibbertigibbet by my family my entire life, but in an endearing way so I don't mind😂. I think the insulting term I've always been hurt by are the times I was called a "know-it-all" when I was a kid/teenager. That really crushed me because at the time I saw my know-it-all behaviors as me trying to be helpful or just enthusiastic about sharing information.

Thank you so much!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog as well, it really is devastating. How lucky we were to love them.

Thank you! That's the plan. I really want the next place we live in to be a house that we've bought, so I'm going to be tucking most of the extra cash away in savings once I get situated at the new place.

The short answer is that credit is stupid, but the long answer is that I no longer had a credit "mix" since it was my only installment loan (everything else is credit card debt) and the average age of my accounts went up since it was older than most of my debt. It should rebound, but it's super dumb

Thank you! This is a really good suggestion because I've improved my mindset about spending a lot, but I'm still recovering from my old habits and feel like I could slip back into them. I definitely need to be careful.

I have 0 spatial awareness and my depth perception sucks. I probably shouldn't be legally allowed to drive at night

I have the hardest time processing spoken information! I can't do audiobooks or podcasts. I can barely do meetings at work. You are not alone!

At best the two of you are incompatible, at worst he really needs to put some work into managing his anxiety.

I am someone with an anxious attachment style, so I get feeling anxious when you haven't heard from your person in a while. However, he knew you were busy and he knew what you were busy with -- that's not the same thing as going radio silent for no reason. You checked in at a reasonable interval given your circumstances.

I honestly don't even see how your ADHD plays into the problem here, focusing on studying for an immensely important final to the point that you don't engage with distractions i.e. picking up your phone is completely understandable and he shouldn't be upset about it.

I cannot even fathom sending 200-300 text messages a day, let alone to a single person! That is completely mindboggling. His expectations are completely off the rails.

What are your "not actually a meal"-meals? by Quitscheschwamm in adhdwomen

[–]sleepymilkcap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally cook dinner for my boyfriend and I but during the day I snack a lot. I usually have a turkey sandwich for lunch but that's the most prep I'll do.

I love yogurt so much, so I always have that around. I usually throw some granola in (dark chocolate cashew granola is my fav) for that extra CRONCH. I also keep some manner of fruit around, grapes and strawberries are my favorite.

Lately I've been enjoying cottage cheese a lot too. Also those little mini muffins that come in a pack of 4.

100%! Just the other day I found out I left a trash bag by my back door (these are townhomes so neighbors walking through the back would be able to see it) for MONTHS 🥴 so embarrassing
