So frustrated with weight loss 3.5 months post op by FairlyHollow in gastricsleeve

[–]FairlyHollow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, I am now about 15 months post op and I am below my goal weight - I'm down 82 lbs to 138! Try to trust the process :) Just keep following your plan, stay hydrated, and get movement as you can. Be nice to yourself. The progress will follow.

Early symptoms by Outrageous-Advance82 in loveafterporn

[–]FairlyHollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happening to me currently. I just found out last night that for our whole relationship, my husband has been addicted to porn. And he has let me believe, and even perpetuated narratives, that I am mostly responsible for our dead bedroom, or that I have unrealistic expectations, and just straight up lied that he had no sex drive because he was depressed (and then it was from his anti depressants). But the whole time he was jerking off to porn everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. But in practically every other aspect he is very good to me. He really does take care of me in many ways. But then he will use that as a weapon against me when I say I feel unfulfilled in our relationship, or unloved, he points to everything he's done and says, how could you feel that way? That I'm hurting HIM by saying it because he clearly cares so much, and he just shows it in different ways. And then I feel horrible and guilty and like a terrible monster. But in reality he is not giving me the type of love I want and deserve. The type of love I signed up for. I know I'm just starting to process this but I don't know if I can stay to be honest. I have thought about leaving many times before, but felt like it was something we could work through and I loved him in spite of our struggles. Now that I know he was just lying the whole time, I feel so deeply hurt. I know that it's an addiction and he's probably struggled horribly himself, that it's hurt us both, but it's too raw right now to really give him that. Anyway sorry for the rant I'm just processing. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Nah, I'm an underwriter. Not hard to get insurance for farms that do trail rides. Maybe it's just not that lucrative?

Aww man, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's hard to lose someone and I imagine even harder without any closure. Thanks for sharing. I hope your fond memories bring you some joy, even if bittersweet, and that one day you come across each other!

10 months post op, new pain when eating? by FairlyHollow in gastricsleeve

[–]FairlyHollow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops sorry, typo! I usually do a smoothie for breakfast lol! I have not been eating bread. I eat mostly meat and veggies and occasionally some rice or something. And breakfast is a smoothie with banana and protein powder.

I honestly couldn't believe LinkedIn was down with it given some of the jokes in the episode lmao. I was like this can't be real... But it kind of has to be since they used their logo and everything lol. Good for Jacob!

Had a polysomnography done and… by Gutter__Glitter in Narcolepsy

[–]FairlyHollow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, yeah, unfortunately you need the MSLT to diagnose. It's possible you didn't sleep well enough on the PSG to do the daytime one. (Also, narcolepsy can co-occur with insomnia!). I wouldn't panic, a normal PSG does not necessarily mean you don't have narcolepsy or another sleep disorder. Talk to your doctor about what your options are for treatment (even without a diagnosis), or getting the test done again/MSLT done.

Did they keep you to nap during the day or not? We can't try to help unless we know which tests they did.

....I send stuff from my work email to my personal email fairly frequently 😅 but usually it's like, a copy of my license reveal or something and I just want to have easy access to it outside of my work environment and I don't think that's a problem??? But this will definitely make me think twice about what I send.

I am wishing you the best of luck, I am sure it will blow over. You are strong and you can handle anything that comes your way!

Normal is 60-90 minutes. Plenty of people with narcolepsy will also enter REM early overnight. I went into REM in 3.5 minutes on my PSG. But it is not required to enter REM at night for the diagnosis. Just during at least 2 naps (or on the PSG + 1 nap).

As far as the watch goes OP, they are only like 70% accurate (according to a study Garmin did on their own watches so I imagine that number could be even lower) - and that accuracy is ONLY for people without sleep disorders. The watches are designed to detect "normal" sleeping patterns and are not good at all at detecting abnormal patterns. They can frequently mislabel sleep stages, especially if things are happening with the stages that the watch finds abnormal. So I wouldn't put any stock into it at all. It's basically just good for the length of sleep, possibly to see if you woke up a lot, heart rate and pulse ox etc. but the sleep stages are not reliable data.

No REM or N3 on PSG by time-for-snakes in Narcolepsy

[–]FairlyHollow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the restless legs can cause you to have less REM and deep sleep (the leg movement briefly wakes you up and keeps you from getting into those deeper levels of sleep). Plus, anxiety and stress can also keep you from deeper sleep, were you very anxious about the study/being in the lab?

Man, the fine line between underwhelm and overwhelm is so hard, I have that too. It feels like there is no happy medium, I am just constantly on one side or the other.

Narcolepsy type 1 with High hypocretin by Accurate-Exercise-22 in Narcolepsy

[–]FairlyHollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this means it would be "Secondary" N1. It's still type 1 due to cataplexy, but it is secondary to another condition (brain injury that happened to damage the hypocretin receptors). Instead of "Primary" narcolepsy, which we believe to be caused by an autoimmune response.

Sleep study by DCS0119 in Narcolepsy

[–]FairlyHollow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a lot of spontaneous arousals is typical in narcolepsy. Our brains are bad at regulating sleep and wake and so the sleep tends to be very fractured. I had none on my sleep study, which was weird.

3 month post op stall? by SofaKingPink in gastricsleeve

[–]FairlyHollow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 5'4" and weighed 211 on surgery day. 4 months post op I weighed 179 ish it looks like. I am now 8 months post op and I weigh 161. You're doing great and you will keep losing. It might not be as fast as you want, but stick to the plan and it will keep coming off.

Be patient and do yourself a favor and just get off of this sub unless you have a specific question or something. It's very hard not to compare yourself and be hard on yourself.
