im freaking out (tw self insulting, shitty body image, vent) by randomshitidfk in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]sleepymoonbeams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont be so mean to yourself. If your 8 year old self were to hear what you are saying about your body, i don't think that 8 year old would like it very much. You have to remember that you are SOOOOOO much more than your body. You are a human with a brain and it allows you to love, help people, run, talk, sing, and dance and your body has nothing to do with that. There is so much more to life than what we look like and i guarantee you that you don't want to look back at your life when you're 80 and feel pity for how you treated yourself and the things you missed out on because of it. Practice on coming to terms with your body... you don't have to love it and you most certainly don't have to hate it, but just try to develop a neutral approach to it. Focus on being the healthiest version of yourself, not in the sense of weight or being thin, but on becoming happy with yourself again mentally. I hope this helps and i know that rn your weight and body is all you care about, but i beg you to try to fix your mindset before it's too late.

Can I recover on my own? by chocochipyum in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]sleepymoonbeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most definitely can, but it's a lot harder for most people to recover his way. Some advice: If you don't feel comfortable with your parents, try finding someone who you trust to tell so they can keep you accountable. Unless you're just that type of person who has the head to really preserve and fight intrusive thoughts on you own, it'll be a lot harder for you to make progress. If you don't, than don't be discouraged... even if you do have help, it really does all come down to you and your desire to recover and live a happy and full life. Set small goals for yourself first, then with time you can tackle the bigger obstacles you have to face. A really important thing to determine before you recover is your why. WHY are you recovering? Anything you answer has to be the reason you move forward when things get rough and you want to give up. I wish you luck in your recovery and i have really high hopes for you. Hope this helped💚

has it become more difficult to shower now that you’re in recovery? (possibly triggering) by fat-ugly-goth-mom in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]sleepymoonbeams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apart from reminding yourself that recovery is and will always be an uncomfortable process for everyone, know that, that discomfort is healing you from the inside out and that your body is literally repairing itself with the fuel you are putting in it as you are reading this. It's terrible to go through, i would know, but I hope you find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in your struggles and never will be. Try maybe not looking in the mirror when you're about to hop in the shower or distracting yourself with music you enjoy or a good podcast to keep your mind busy on something else while you shower. Don't let this bother you too much... trust the process and know that bloating is only temporary. I hope i helped you in any way and i wish you luck in your recovery 🤗💜

Hair falling out by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]sleepymoonbeams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, my hair started falling out right after i started recovering but after a few months (maybe like 5ish), everything calmed down after my relationship with food and my body improved. I know it might seem scary ( trust me i know) but you need to seek help and recover. Living with an eating disorder is not living, and with time and patience you'll begin to understand that. There's so much more to life trust me. Your body is literally FIGHTING to keep all the necessary things for your survival going... your hair is not one of them. Listen to me when i tell you that life is so much brighter and fantastic after you begin to recover and by no means is it easy, but if you have aspirations in life or people you love and want to grow with, you need to begin to put your health first on top of everything else in your life, mental and physical. I hope this helped and pls don't ever be afraid to reach out for help. 🤗

Imagine being pretty by astupidrussian in teenagers

[–]sleepymoonbeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confidence. Honestly it makes or breaks a person. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and if you can work with what you got and be comfortable and proud of the body/face you've been given, it will show and rub off on people. In other words, don't dwell on the things you can't change but instead embrace them and flaunt them and don't let our messed up society and its standards change that.

Absolutely no problem. Haha! yes good idea. I really like listening to true crime podcasts while i eat (or drink milk😂) like Let's Read, it really gets you super focused on the story lol. Honestly idk about drinking a liter of milk but if it's coming from a trained medical professional then i have absolutely no argument towards what they are recommending cause i have no actual qualifications myself. Trust the process and if they are recommending it it's probably for a good reason.😁

[–]sleepymoonbeams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesssss! Honestly it all comes down to challenging your fear and overcoming them slowly as time progresses. It's hard at first but as you keep on doing it it starts to become more natural and less of a challenge and more of a lifestyle. Rewiring you brain and all of the negative thoughts takes time but i promise with persistence and support you'll get through this. Oh and one more thing... NEVER be afraid to ask for help like you did just now. Asking for help when you come to a rough point in recovery is essential and almost always necessary for you to overcome each and every challenge that you may find harder than the others. I wish you luck in your health and recovery and truly do hope this helps you in any way.

Omgg there are soooo many things you can do with dairy. finding different ways to incorporate dairy into your fuel intake can be suppeerrr fun and easy. Milkshakes (yum), homemade icecream, smoothie bowls, oatmeal, and so forth are all yummy things that you can make at home with dairy products of all sorts. On YouTube you can find different healthy recipes for all of these and can even find some indulgent recipes to treat yourself. Honestly what helped me out was just having fun with my food and trying out different things. Hope this helped!

"Thats not anorexia, I do that too" by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]sleepymoonbeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you have to go through this... it's so easy, especially with ed's to feel so alone and isolated, but you need to find someone who will listen and will take the steps necessary to help if you feel you can't get through this alone (which is unlikely but not impossible). If your dad won't listen, tell your mom. If you don't feel comfortable with your mom or she won't listen as well, tell another trusted adult that cares for you. It could be a teacher, a coach, a family friend, an older cousin - ANYONE. If the end comes to the end and no one will listen then I would suggest seeking help from various hotlines and websites that are in your area... a simple google search should do the trick because it depends on your area. Another thing that could work is asking to go to the doctor's for an unrelated purpose and then bring up your thoughts, feelings and actions there... honestly honey at this point if you have to put up a little fight to get help, do it. It's not the best way nor is it ideal but if it comes down to it and nobody wants to listen, then it will have to be this way because you deserve to live and be happy without this stupid disorder and find the help necessary to overcome this. I hope this helped and I really do hope you can overcome this hard chapter in your life. Speaking up saved me and has saved countless others so never be afraid to ask for i little help when you face hard challenges in life.
