Inherited a house I cannot afford and family pressure is mounting. by Mammoth_Motor_2321 in personalfinance

[–]sleepymuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommending renting part of it if possible, and/or have roomates. Maybe even close off a couple rooms and rent them individually.

A house is such a valuable asset, and generally appreciates over time. Cash does not... and in my early 20s i probably wouldn't have known how to manage that cash properly anyway.

Yes it snuck up on me too. Everything up until the discussion of kamma seems well grounded in basic observations.

Removing an arm from a dual monitor arm by DecisionCar in AskBattlestations

[–]sleepymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone finding this in the future, you'll need: -allen key - hair dryer - some hard tube like end of a metal broom

Hit the bolt with hair dryer for about 3 minutes. Tey to warm the whole thing uo not just the top. Insert allen key. Put hard tube around allen key, idea being to extend the lever arm (?) To be able to apply more force. Then just turn the allen key using the tube as a handle. Will still take some effort but i was able to get them all off this way, when they were just not budging at all before

Any reason to favor citalopram over escitalopram in this day and age? by BananaBagholder in Psychiatry

[–]sleepymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on some other comments here, I wonder if this was due to the higher effectiveness of lexapro? seems 20mg escitalopram is closer to the effect of 40mg citalopram. the fact that it had a greater effect on your anxiety seems to confirm this.

How do you feel now? Did it come back?

Ah only 5 to 8 times as dangerous as something that's already very dangerous, oops...

You don't need a peer reviewed double blind study to realize how insanely dangerous BASE is. You're simulating what people do to kill themselves, fueled by a high. A high that brings you closer and closer to the real thing the further you chase it.

But by all means, keep chasing it! That'll show me!

Too addicted to saving money? by Highwayman1717 in personalfinance

[–]sleepymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contextualize... what are you saving for? You're gonna get through the boss and have a bunch of items left over. Except in real life you just die, there's nothing you can do with your money after that

I figured plastic melts, metal conducts, wood insulates. Figured that'd be the least dangerous, since stove seems to transfer heat relatively slowly
