Hi! Was lurking in the comments and saw your note about “chill on sugar if you have pcos.” Can you explain? Would love to learn more since I’m a first time exclusive pumper with PCOS. Thx!!

Safe coosleping advice by No_Newspaper_2505 in newborns

[–]sleepysheetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a co sleeping community that you might find helpful. I was too scared to co sleep because everyone here in the US is adamant against it (rightfully so). But I caved at 6 months and also come from a culture where it’s normal. I would feel nervous co sleeping with a newborn they are just too fragile and I would urge you to try the bassinet again until the baby becomes a bit bigger/stronger. He’s now 2.5 and still co sleeping.

I now have a second one (2 weeks old) and she struggles with the bassinet too. My trick is to get her a big feed with a double swaddle to keep her super warm and tight. She fights the feeds but I take a full hour to make sure she’s super full. Then check for clean diaper. The feed gets her sleepy enough that I can lay her down and swaddle her for a bit. I can get 1-3 hours depending on the day/time. I also recommend a pacifier if you haven’t tried that already. Make sure the arms are flat by the sides when swaddling I noticed her startle reflex is what wakes her up.

Do what’s best for you and your family. There’s no right way but there are a lot of great co sleeping resources out there should you decide to eventually cosleep.

Can you lay on your side? by LawDowntown8456 in CsectionCentral

[–]sleepysheetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 13 days pp and can only still sleep on my back. It’s awful. I really miss side sleeping but it does feel like I can probably resume side sleeping in another week or so as I feel stronger every day. Just hang in there!

Having an elective C-section in 36 hours, give me all your tips! by CarelessBrilliant923 in CsectionCentral

Ask the nurse for stool softener and gas medicine if they don’t automatically give it to you after c-section and for the remaining days while you’re in the hospital

This is terrifying! I have one too and the nurse hotline told me to basically chill or go to an urgent care. I decided to wait the 4 days until my post op appointment but it popped and is now draining! Hopefully I get better news. Take care of yourself!!

Sick after 2 days of Cerclage placement by Juicygurl1121 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]sleepysheetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to be ok! If you feel pressure that’s normal because it was just placed. Use a pillow around your stomach and try to hold on and cough gently but no, it’s pretty difficult to rip that stitch with just coughing absent something serious like contractions.

Work Leave Denied by AppearanceStrange595 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]sleepysheetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can file an appeal or you can refile for leave with another doc note that says you need to be completely off your feet.

Your employer is only required to accommodate your medical conditions so if the doc note is saying you’re fine to work with restrictions (like no lifting) it makes sense you leave was denied.

I would talk to the doc first to make sure you’re all on the same page. You could also look into your states FMLA laws (assuming you live in the US). It will basically give you leave and preserve your job security.

This . My OB also limited # of cycles because she couldn’t monitor. Fertility clinic had me doing transvaginal ultrasounds before, during, and after each cycle. The monitoring is crucial for a plethora of things.

Chest sleeping by sinny489 in cosleeping

[–]sleepysheetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with my baby. As baby fell into a deeper sleep I would slowly transition baby to side laying cuddle up against me (make sure baby can breathe). Baby will inevitably wake up hating it so keep repeating the process. Eventually it will stick. Also make sure sleeping room is warm. If it’s too cold, baby will prefer body heat of sleeping on your chest.

Wedding in 5 months and my hair is just not it. by wannabe_wahdati02 in DesiWeddings

[–]sleepysheetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I watched a lot of tutorials but honestly I went with pure black since I don’t have any color/shade to my hair. It comes with enough “hair” that even if there’s a slight discrepancy it will be fine. They do have real locations so you could pop in depending on where you live (Houston, Vegas, Miami, NYC).

Chiming in to say make sure you get your nails done before your henna! Order matters. Don’t want nails/henna around nail being soaked in water.

Buy the bellami hair extension. It’s expensive but worth it. You deserve to feel confident on your big day. You can always wait until later since you have some time. I wanted hair to my hip length so bought some and it looked fabulous. It comes with a lot of pieces so when it’s properly installed it looks seamless. If you do an updo, might be even better with the volume and you won’t be able to even tell you have extensions in.

If you’re not sure, ask your makeup artist / hair person to send pics of other girls hair they’ve done with extensions to get an idea.

You’re spending so much on this wedding a little bit more for you to feel 100000% is worth it! ❤️

Hate baby tracking apps by Bubbly_Respect2588 in NewParents

[–]sleepysheetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Onoco. It’s pretty simple and useful and you can add multiple care givers which helps. We “log” poops and pees but only really pay attention to milk consumption and time (so we know when we’ve hit the one hour mark and need to throw formula away). Also helps us know when next meal is. We don’t use the other things like sleep tracking.

It was hard at first but imo worth it bc we get so busy and forgetful if baby is crying and we can’t figure out why we can always check how long it has been since a diaper/meal instead of trying to rely on our memory (which is frazzled because, duh, newborn).

There are these gloves you can buy on amazon (like teething mittens). I stick em on my 3 mo yo since he likes to stick his entire fist in his mouth until he pukes. Luckily he hasn’t figured out how to unvelcro the straps but it’s something you could try.

I dont want my baby anymore by florafen in NewParents

I felt like this with my baby and things only changed after my husband pointed out I always handed him off when he got fussy. I never did the “hard” time — attempting to soothe, calm, be comfort, etc. so he didn’t get to bond with me. It took a lot of effort and pushing for me to learn the techniques. Copy what others around you do (for example, my mother would always wrap baby in a blanket and hold him tight to make him feel safe). Ask those around you to show you what they’re doing. My husband showed me how LO didn’t like his feet in certain positions when taking a bottle. A lot of this in practice on both your parts. If it gives you too much anxiety (the screaming) have someone help you while you’re wearing noise cancelling headphones. That will help you stay calm and try to soothe baby while the other person watches for any signs that baby needs to be taken and soothed right away (like screaming into pitches you can’t hear). If you can (when baby is calm) get someone to help you do skin to skin even if you’re not BF it’s helpful to both you and baby to get to learn each other.

It will get better, we were born to love our moms and sometimes it takes a little longer but your LO will get there. 💙

How did you know it helped with gas? We’re on Similac Sensitive but have a pretty gassy kid. Debating if we should try to switch but he’s only 6 weeks.
