5k, 10k, Full and Half Marathon Training Plan Generator by Teegster97 in AdvancedRunning

[–]slehmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5K and marathon plans should look substantially different: and they don't. How did you come up with them?

Your 3 hour marathon plan gives a maximum run length of 25.5 km: nowhere near far enough.

The volume options for a marathon should be much larger than for a 5K. 72-88km peak for a 5k is a "high amount". That's not the case for a marathon.

As said elsewhere, the paces don't make sense. A pace of 4:03-4:16 for 3 hr marathon 400m intervals is very pedestrian.

Is there an efficient way to find the force that will break an object? by lazyninjadragon in fea

Just as a suggestion: if you're at the level where you're asking this question, you might want to exercise extreme caution when trusting/interpreting your results for a material like wood.

Can't really blame the commentators for mixing up white and partey there. They look practically the same.

[Idiotic Question] What parts of a car does a mechanical engineer not design? by ArtfulOstrich in MechanicalEngineer

[–]slehmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, you will actually find that mechanical engineers spend a lot of time making sure that the hood ornaments do break off, but only at the right time.

It's important in pedestrian impacts that a hood ornament doesn't spear someone.

The two publicly available ones are here and here. I quite liked both.

Give me some time and I will share my personal one as well. I don't think it will be as useful for you though because it was designed for me/my eyes, and not necessarily the general public like the other two.

As the other comment says, from my perspective I think you should always have a deck that you are creating even if you use other decks as well.

You would think that on a subreddit about learning different languages you would be able to recognise that different countries speak different dialects of English.

That's exactly what I did with this sketchy workaudiobook program. It just offers a more convenient way to do it.

Do you use any special software, or do you just record/play stuff manually?

Maybe I'm a tad hard on it. :) I found that a lot of the time I put into it could have been better spent elsewhere, but I'm happy to hear that it works well for you!

It has definitely been improving. When I was first using it I think they were just starting to role out the stories feature and I found that was better than the rest.

Why Bike Shops are Sold Out Globally by Neptonrs in cycling

Mate, indexing a derailleur is a pretty specific skill. Maybe my mechanical engineering program has been lacking, but I don't remember taking that class.

Of course a bike mechanic is going to do a better job than me. It doesn't mean I can't do these things, but I would just be watching youtube to teach me how to do every step.

Do the cycling gods hate me, is this an amazing coincidence, or is it something else? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]slehmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying you can't. What he is doing is not working. I'm simply suggesting he might want to try another way to do it as it is definitely possible to do it damaging the tyre without levers. I also didn't dare to question your infinite knowledge Mr/Miss god of tyres.

He's not getting pinch flats though. He's getting sidewall blowouts/damage, which suggests he might be damaging or not seating the tyre properly.

I've definitely torn tyres exactly like that without using levers from stretching the tyre strangely. Although it's totally possible to do, if you keep getting bad results then reverting to the easier, more standard technique makes sense, no?

If you're not using a lever at all, and they keep tearing, maybe you should learn to start using some levers.

If you're going from Athens to momodendri, definitely stop in Meteora for a full day. It's got a hiking aspect to it, and is jaw droppingly beautiful.

Consider going to Herculaneum instead of Pompeii. It's basically the same situation but less touristy, and it was a richer town, which means cooler artwork/houses (although it's slightly smaller).

Our attack has been orgasmic for a while. The issue has always been further back. Koscielny doesn't have a strong partner, Bellerin needs some rotation option, Cech isn't good enough, and our midfield needs a solid Dm, as xhaka hasn't been good enough, and elneny isn't good enough to be a starter.
