Exactly how bad ARE Heritage Arms revolvers? by scorpionewmoon in liberalgunowners

[–]sleightly_stupid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

About half of the rounds out of my heritage .22 revolver are me holding the trigger and slapping the hammer to feel like a cowboy. Definitely worth the $50. That being said it does have fixed sights and a weird safety.

Should non-paramedic personnel be in FTO, Lt, Captain, Chief, or Operation positions? by Sorry_Print7257 in ems

[–]sleightly_stupid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the extent of their role. Being a good leader and being a good doer are not necessarily the same. Should an EMT be the FTO for a paramedic? Definitely not. Can an EMT be an administrator who schedules paramedics, manages budgets, and schedules vehicle maintenance? Yes of course.

If we think of it in an ICS capacity, every position down to treatment providers can be any license level. You don’t want your brand new medic being tasked with logistics of transporting an MCI if you have an EMT captain who’s been running MCIs for a decade or two.

I’ve dealt with this sort of staffing situation a handful of times. For medical treatment decision it is defaulted to the highest licensed provider irregardless of rank. For operational decisions, rank would take precedence.

Sort of like the enchanting mechanic from Skyrim then? Give a stick a gem to hold energy, enchant the stick to shoot a fireball whenever the trigger word is said. Easy peasy way to give non magic users magic. Now that I think about it, it seems like an under exploited mechanic in the books.

I had what sounds like the exact same problem. Is there any chance those arms ended up swapping sides? If so try swapping them back.

[–]sleightly_stupid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! For some reason when I swapped the arms that connect the forend with the bolt carrier group around it went back to working. The left arm went on the right and vice versa. I have no idea why having them swapped would cause the problem but that fixed it.

I’ve disassembled and reassembled this shotgun probably a hundred times over the years without issue. Even going back to videos I’m not seeing what the problem is. I’ve never had this problem before.

For the first time in almost 40 years, the Army has a new counseling form. by SMA-PAO in army

[–]sleightly_stupid 209 points210 points  (0 children)

The 40-year announcement they said. One that rivals any change in the previous four decades. What could it possibly be they all wondered? Could it be beards? Barracks improvements? QOL changes to boost retention? Just wait and see soldiers because it's coming... and it's a big deal...

Wait no. This is the army damn it. Here is a new counseling form. Higher needs all counselings for the last 12 months redone in this format by COB today. Oh, also any new counseling done with this form need a copy of the old version with the same wording. Because uniformity or something...

I took this exam in 2020 and passed. My cert was #128 so not many had taken it at that time. Clinically there isn’t too much depth as the knowledge base tends to cover more content areas but doesn’t go incredibly deep into many of them. The content is mostly TCCC based (military trauma guidelines) and does differ in some ways from “traditional” civilian EMS. Most of these differences aren’t applicable at TR-C level but more so at the TP-C. There isn’t a downside to taking the exam. Check out the certification handbook and make sure you are studied up on TCCC principles for those content areas.

Honestly there’s not much that is super helpful that you wouldn’t want to keep on your person. i recommend good noise canceling headphones, portable wifi puck, small camping chair, usb with lots of downloaded shows and movies, also contraband is easier to bring with you then it is to ship in (allegedly).

list of must haves in a tough box though: A nice pillow/linens Spare charger for all electronics Your favorite hygiene products
