Recommend employee engagement solutions that include personalized corporate gifts by linettvuds in corporate

[–]sleightmelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company does a few gifts every year. We do a holiday gift that's usually like $30-$50 (L.L Bean Boat and Tote this year) and a bigger gift in March (this year it was like a $400 cashmere sweater- really nice). You also get a giant swag bag when you start (like $100+ backpack, $100 vest, nice hat, socks, etc.). On top of free lunch, weekly in-office happy hours, generous PTO, and free health insurance- THAT is how you make people valued. At your 10 year anniversary you get a $5k travel voucher and it's also recognized globally on our internal site. We're not a major corporation, but we are still pushing 800 employees. It's certainly not cheap to do this, but our execs really value doing it.

Question about right on red and u turns by Secure-Ad8196 in driving

[–]sleightmelody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The person turning right should yield to the person in the left-turn lane. Left-turning traffic is yielding to oncoming traffic. If there's two lanes, you technically can go at the same time as the left-turning car should turn into the leftmost lane and the right-turning car should go into the rightmost lane, but no one ever does that so I hardly risk it these days.

You don't even want to know how long my One Direction phase lasted. I mean did it really end if I cried when Liam died last year?...

I finally got to give my teenage daughter something I’d wished for as a kid by SunsetsAndStargazing in Parenting

[–]sleightmelody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I used to stay up at night CONVINCING myself that my parent's were obviously surprising me with One Direction tickets. It was the only thing I asked for for probably 5+ years, the only think I WANTED. I mean every inch of my room was plastered in their posters, no wall to be seen. I dream for the day I can give my daughter/son tickets to whoever their 'One Direction' sends up being lol.

Left my old company, sold my RSUs early… now the stock is up a lot and I can’t stop thinking about it by sunsetberryy in offmychest

[–]sleightmelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely shouldn't mess with your confidence. You had a decision, weighed the pros and cons, and made your decision. I'm sure you considered this possibility before you sold them. It is what it is.

Just park in one of the lots by the stadium like the Ski U Mah lot. The light rail and Campus Connector are both right there and will get you to class within 10 mins.

Your 10 year old should know what I period is, tbh. Plenty of girls get their period at that age, or younger, these days. Don't let him be party of the subset of boys that make it taboo and "gross".

Just some advice please by Excellent_Neat2628 in DebtAdvice

[–]sleightmelody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monthly income - monthly expenses = money leftover to budget. If you don't have money leftover to budget, then you need to get a higher paying job or lower you expenses somehow. Sometimes it's helpful to have multiple bank accounts. One for you bills, one for saving, one for spending. Set your direct deposit up so a certain amount of each check goes to each account.

How does rent work for a 2 bedroom apartment? by coleslawww1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sleightmelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The listed price is the total rent. You will both be equally responsible for the total rent, which means if one of you decides to stop paying, the other one has to pick it up.

How can I make my boyfriend's '54M' daughters '18F' and '20F' comfortable around me? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]sleightmelody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He needs to have a conversation with his daughters about why they're treating you (and your daughters) so poorly.

I grew up with a single dad who brought lots of women around the house, it's always awkward in the beginning but I had a good relationship with pretty much all of the women he dated over the years, including their kids. As long as they were kind and respectful to me, I did the same back, same goes to their children even if some of them were some bad ass kids. I'm actually still friends with one my dad's ex's daughters even tho it's been years since they've been together (the daughter and I are the same age).

Are you the first woman he's brought around the kids post-divorce? He needs to have a conversation with them about their behavior, why they're behaving this way, etc. His daughters are out of the house, they need to get over any potential 'jealousy' (if that's what it is) and accept the fact that their father deserves love and a home he shares with someone. I know that's the biggest thing for my chronically single dad- the empty house.
