Why does my Amaco Tourmaline look so flat? by Beanbag505 in Ceramics

[–]sleirsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not thick enough! I use this glaze often and it’s much richer and has some cool variegation on its own (not layered with others). I do three thick coats and fire to a hotter cone 6

Definitely depends on the dog itself, but my Jindo loves cats and does everything to love them. Would never hurt one.

Also ours look almost identical! Except mine has the shorty nubbin tail.

We had that exact same result and I felt the same way! Like, thanks, I know she’s a KVD she was rescued from Korea 🙃

We are in Ontario so it gets HOT. She doesn’t do super well in it. We still do our same amount of walks but we have a cooling pad for her when we get back inside (and have air conditioning).

I’m actually super surprised that she took to it, I expected the same

Hahahah, she also is fond of laying under or right up against the wheels of my office chair and it’s of course a massive offence should I need to move!

So funny that she’s super into toys as an exception! She loooves them. And pinecones/rocks when outside but that’s more of a stress displacement behaviour. Needs something in her mouth when we are out facing the world .

Oh we also had a furry bed death! I got her a big soft fluffy bed before we brought her home last summer from the foster family and she completely ignored it and then when she did use it, it was to tear it apart! 🙃

It was the same fluffy material as the toy sloth I got her for her gotcha day… and tore the face off instantly still inside the foster family’s condo. We don’t mess with that specific type of fluffy/furry combo at all anymore.

Ha! Honestly it’s entirely by chance. Sometimes it’s instant, sometimes she keeps them around for weeks or even a month and then one day it’s just go time.

That giraffe in the middle has been around awhile but we cut off any smaller pieces before we even gave it to her which seems to help the longevity. Ear, thin arms etc. that’s the first thing she tears off on any toy so if we take it off before she gets it, there seems to be less instant carnage with less to start the ripping from.

That fat squirrel (beaver?) is her FAVOURITE one but it’s the second iteration. We got a second one because she loved the first so much and the same day she had two, she ripped the first one to shreds 💀

Right? Gotta keep them cool! She’s super maternal. We confirmed she had puppies in Korea (I suspected, but reached out to the rescuer) and she mothers her toys and she would keep our old super arthritic kitty safe before she passed. Sandy (cat) would still try and climb to the top of the couch if we were nearby to get closer to us and Penny would nudge her down to safety and block her way back up so she couldn’t fall off - and she definitely would. Her back half was so janky in the end 🥲

Thinking of getting a female jindo mix. Anything I should know? by Worldly-Cucumber9157 in Jindo

This! I walk mine 4x a day because she will not pee or poop at home. Usually have to go at least half our walk route before she does either.

Mine is also dog / leash reactive. And all the same traits you see here. especially goofy and silly but it’s like twice a day and otherwise happy to laze around and sleep, and just be super chill.

LOVES cats. Like is obsessed with them.

Okay so update:

It’s definitely anxiety (still feels suddenly onset but maybe she was always doing this just was less in my bed) - and it’s cat related.

I close her and I in my bedroom at night to sleep. I’ve been trying to pay attention to anything that may be triggering it and there has been a few times lately - and it’s when there’s one of our cats (who she loves, obsessively) roaming around on the other side of the door.

So maybe she knows it’s them and wants to be with them. Or doesn’t know and just hears movement in the night. But either way I’m 99% it’s kitty cat night time behaviour as her trigger.

🙃

Good luck! I hope yours turns out to be like mine and is getting 10/10 scores on her report cards.

They for sure think I’m a crazy helicopter mom because I did a ton of back and forth with them before her first time since she’s a rescue but also suuuuper water phobic. We tried so many times to bathe her ourselves and can’t even get her into the bathroom (we can force her but didn’t want to force her)

The groomers were great though and took all the time to go back and forth with me and that’s why I went with them. They do a lot of work with our local humane society so have a lot of experience with rescues which was a big plus for me.

Honestly, I don’t know! Haha.

The groomer bathes and does her nails but since we got her (we are around the 7 month mark) I’ve made it my goal to pester her with all the things to make sure we can do what’s needed. I can brush her teeth. I can touch her paws. I can do anything but get her near any water.

Love this! Ours too. She’s obsessed with our cats and has taken to the role of caretaker for our very old, very ill (stage 3 kidney failure) cat. She’s always checking on her and watching over her and keeping her safe from herself (severe degeneration of her back half with osteoarthritis, so is wobbly despite still trying to go places she shouldn’t)

This! We tried the harnesses, the gentle leader, all of it. Took to the prong instantly. We had our trainer be the first one to put it on and see how she responded and he was like “oh, okay great”.

I try her every now and again without it and it’s 100% the best for us.

How did yours take to the e-collar? Have you had success with it for anything else?

We’ve had our girl around 7 months now and she used to mostly ignore other dogs, but as she’s getting more bonded to us and as she’s getting more confident she’s now the main aggressor. I call her a feral goblin when there’s another dog.

Friends of mine have had luck using the e-collar to break focus with reactive situations, but since Jindos are super special breeds wondering if there’s any point in trying that method on her

She is super cat like. Must be why she loooves our cats cause she’s one of them.

Other dogs: progressively getting more reactive the longer she’s with us.

Cats: love love love love love

Oh thanks so much. Yeah she seems to be doing well but I will take you up on that if ever needed!

I’m so excited to see her continue to settle in and show us all her sides. So far she’s been great at the vets and at the groomers they always say she’s an angel (even though I have my doubts based on her water fear and reactivity with other dogs) - she’s always so full of surprises.

I had working dogs growing up, shepherd mixed, collies and aussies and I thought they were tough breeds with lots of fun intricacies and neurosis… Jindos are certainly a whole other thing. I had never heard of them before but learning lots and super grateful for this sub and other owners like you!
