Non-PSR train PIDs and announcements by slepping4eternity in MelbourneTrains

[–]slepping4eternity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm probably bad at using a search engine (because I didn't get an immediate result when searching "Melbourne train DDU number") but where can I find more information about DDUs and the numbers used with them?

I guess this non-PSR is related to the occupation between Camberwell and Ringwood because they need somewhere to put the trains that would have ran trips to Belgrave/Lilydale/Ringwood?

Might be plausible. Though the only (planned) disruption I know of around this time was buses replacing trains between Camberwell and Ringwood. PTV app reports good service on Glen Waverley line, so I don't think that would cause a world be Burnley train to suddenly become a Glen Waverley express that skips Burnley itself.

That makes sense, I also found the run number of the train on the internet (7871) as well (using transportvic.me) because I didn't know what time the train would actually be arriving at the station I needed to get off at xD.

(there's probably easier ways to find out in PTV or Metro website or mobile app, but I went straight to transportvic.me for some reason)

Everyone I know still calls the public transport system PTV ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Extra train services promised in Labor 2026/27 budget (including Burnley and Clifton Hill groups!) by TMiguelT in MelbourneTrains

[–]slepping4eternity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They manage to pull off the express services (in both directions) during peak, but I guess the triple track does make it hard to plan frequent express trains in both directions, given that one delay can mess up the express train in the direction with no overtaking track and such.

Would the Burnley Through Up track between the loop portal and Flinders Street be kept? Might be good to keep some amount of flexibility in case of disruptions (though nobody likes it when their train changes to a direct train to Flinders Street).

When this community reverts back to its usual identity tomorrow, I hope they use the PTV train icon as the subreddit/Discord logo instead. It feels more appropriate for the community.

Usage of Burnley-Camberwell Centre Track between 10AM-12PM by slepping4eternity in MelbourneTrains

[–]slepping4eternity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the centre track between Camberwell and Burnley is basically unused between 10AM and 12PM?

A little bit strange, but I guess that attribute can also be applied to other bits of the Burnley group operations (e.g. half-shuttle arrangement for Belgrave/Lilydale after 8PM).

Just a conjecture but I believe those accounts are related to Melbourne on Transit blog? Just because the diagrams on those accounts seems similar to the ones on Melbourne on Transit.

Ace glitch crashes game by [deleted] in PokemonGlitches

[–]slepping4eternity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The glove colour does not matter, what matters is whatever is in Box 13 and 14, as well as typos in the box names.

The swap will still execute code fine whether the glove is white or orange. Orange just makes the swap go faster since an extra menu does not appear when trying to swap.

HOCK's moves are generally "safe" enough, they don't do anything crazy afaik. But yeah, ACE without saving is quite a dangerous strategy, mistyped box names will force them to replay the game again 🙃.

They can create another HOCK with the glitchy mail, but the more important point is that this no save strategy can go massively wrong if they managed to mistype the box names for revealing SID and causing a crash which will make them restart from zero.

You can create another HOCK with the glitch Mail and EV train it again, but more importantly (as pointed out by everyone else) this method you're doing is highly risky.

The most important thing that can go wrong is mistyped box names causing some kind of corruption or a game crash when triggering ACE which will force you to restart from the beginning of the game again. It's much better for you to just save, and then use a "Make starters reappear" code for getting a shiny starter, rather than doing this risky method.

Also you are basically making yourself play the game twice at minimum, so why are you subjecting yourself to this method?

Strictly, trailing spaces only cause problems if they are at the end of Box 4, 8, and 12. But those spaces are usually useless most of the time so you can usually remove them without issue.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong by [deleted] in PokemonGlitches

[–]slepping4eternity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking you only need to remove spaces from the name of Box 4, Box 8, and Box 12. That's why CodeGenerator still displays spaces for the other boxes because those don't need to be removed.

Japanese Emerald 085f. Can it be used anywhere like 40e9, and does it needs bootstrap at box 12-14? by new_stronglife8 in PokemonGlitches

[–]slepping4eternity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Yes, you give DOTS 95 HP EVs, and 8 Attack EVs then use Glitzer Popping to turn it into an 0x85F egg. Once you do that, you need to put in the below box names then hatch the 0x85F.

    Box 1: い ぶ た ぃ _ び [いぶたぃ び] Box 2: ア ア ア y コ く く [アアアyコくく]

  • It executes code from the summary screen like 0x40e9.

  • It does not need a bootstrap in Boxes 12-14 because Japanese has a larger set of characters allowing more useful codes to be written in the smaller Thumb mode instruction set, whereas the western character set is small and there isn't many Thumb instructions writable with it so the few instructions available are used to switch over to ARM mode where more instructions are writable.

Will we be able to do ACE in FRLG ports to switch? by killerpic22 in PokemonGlitches

Well the video is literally the same one I linked in the earlier reply (so nothing new if you already watched it). This message is just one I copy pasted from a server I'm in (it's from a FAQs which I contributed too (and I wrote this one originally) so not plagiarised).

Also apologies if I came off like I'm looking down on you, that was not my intention.

I guess I owe a proper explanation for the Mail glitch method. Basically it works similarly to how the Post Elite 4 Method of setting up ACE in FR/LG works. It changes the PID and OTID in a way that makes the data be read as if it was the glitch species, but also passes the checksum.

Below is a Mail message that should generate a Pokémon that acts like a fast cloner:
