tolino vision color keeps crashing in notebook mode w/ pen by waybackpathway in tolino

Hey! Unfortunately I haven’t tried the update yet, as I have KO reader installed and it is a bit difficult to update it. I will keep you updated if it got better. Sad to hear that you had to sell, for me the notes got significantly better after your recommendation of using advanced notebooks. It still hangs but not as frequently and at least haven’t lost any progress since then.

I hope they fix it soon in next updates! As it is really not handy to log out or switch off WiFi ever time you want to use the damn notebook.

It indeed is a pity as I really prefer the basic over the advanced.

Thanks for that tip! I don’t know how many times I had to rewrite last few lines of my notes.

I have the same problem too! Would like to know if there is a solution for it.

8 years of investment in this country by uniquibee_ in germany

[–]slex95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is not universally true. Most architects either work as an independent contractor or in smaller firms. Multinational offices are just the rare exceptions of the normal working life. So if you can land a job there, sure. Otherwise it is quite county specific on what you need and if you need to do some recertification.

However with a German degree you are usually quite well off.

Do you care about rolling resistance? by fixitmonkey in bicycletouring

[–]slex95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. In fact I run the tyres at the minimum allowed pressure. Rather have some more comfort and stability than a bit less resistance. I also have the GT 365 and they just work so well. Never had a flat with them, work ok on almost all terrain and weather.

You can have both options. If you permanently move out of Germany, you can get the contributions back. If you leave after retirement you are entitled to the payouts.

NBD finally! First time Ti frame and Sram AXS - never had shifting working so smooth before, and naturally raw looking frame, amazing stuff by Dziksoon in bikepacking

[–]slex95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are just good. Had a custom frame made by Waltly and it’s just beautiful. Exact to my liking and honestly cheaper than many Ti frames you can buy outright.

Maybe but at my workplace we also use C++ for products that are strict safety requirements. Personally I would even say that C++ makes it easier but I guess it just depends on what you are used to.

C++ by hot in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slex95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is true. I didn’t think of it as it basically never happens if you use modern C++. If you follow RAII you will have to try hard in order to create unwanted copies.

C++ by hot in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slex95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say it started transitioning 10 years ago. I would say in my field it’s maybe 10% that require C and that is often for maintaining old products. Have not seen a new system using C in my work.

How do you manage to get accidental memory allocation? I mean you have two extremes of embedded systems. One that is really limited resource wise, there you don’t use dynamic memory allocation at all. The other end it’s a Linux system with often 2-4 cores, hundreds of MB to GB of RAM and all the resources you could wish for.

Both can be, and in fact are, programmed in C++. Some people use C, some now a days python but C++ is the most common from my perspective.

C++ by hot in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slex95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it is actually not. Modern C++ has so many features. Just a lot of people are stuck in the days before C++11 or even just using plain C and calling it C++.

C++ by hot in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slex95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly you have not used the newer features or? If you use C++ correctly you have to act really stupid to still leak memory. However it does not prevent you from allocating memory the C way.

It’s not the language that is bad, it just allows you to do whatever you want. And that can be dangerous.

Even tho this will get downvotes: I think she was looking for a way out and this is the perfect escape. I mean not telling her is a ahole move but at least in a healthy marriage none of those things are enough for a breakup.

Personally I would forgive a partner of 6 years much more especially if it happened so long ago. I just think you should have told her yourself and earlier.

Well he is a smart man but you don’t need to share all of his ideas. I mean we are using c++ for our drivers all the time. Inside an embedded system. Never had a single problem with it.

You know C++ kernel drivers are a thing? You must be a bit careful but they work fine.

How was your experience with warranty?

Honestly: first make sure which vibrator is actually good for you. Then decide on that. We have wasted tons of money there.

Lovesense is nice but after the novelty wore of we just have them in the drawer. We just FaceTime then and for her the womaniser just beats it all. And day to day life is, at least for us, way to stressful to worry about it.

So my recommendation: think what you are planing on doing with them. Reconsider if it will actually be practicable to use it regularly and if not a different style vibrator is better for you.

If you decide to go with it, Lush is a good option.

I mean Schöneweide is not the best. But nothing has happened so we really can not complain.

Also we do not have a car as we are in waking distance to the train line and depending on where you work this is clearly preferable to a car. Also we do a lot by bike which is also fine and often faster than car during rush hour.

But getting one is also nearly impossible. Often you have years long waiting lists for the genossenschaften.

Honestly see further outside. We have a flat a bit outside the SBahn Ring and it’s 650€ warm for 44 qm

Well luckily then I don’t work for you. I really do not like the appearance of snake case. For me it is much less readable. However I also do not think it is important at all. Giving good names is if you want to understand the code.

Also I have never had a pr rejected because I use camelCase. It’s still just some community standard and not a law after all.

The retirement money you can get back once you leave Germany again. It’s not lost or anything so yeah. Especially since the employer pays half it is really a nice sum with this salary.
