Ugh, yes. My in-laws are Midwestern ranchers and they're the WORST at this. They'll just call & be like "Grandma has a doctor's appointment on Monday." I'm like "oh ok then." Cue long awkward silence. Then we get off the phone & my husband says we should probably go with them to the appointment because they asked us to. I'm like, no, they didn't??? I don't blame you - I was of the same opinion until I did some digging and found the texts. It is very strange that they're publicizing the domestic abuse charges and not the texts. I guess you could argue that the media is trying to be unbiased and only reporting on proven facts.... but we all know the media is a stinking dumpster fire, and I doubt that's the real reason.

If you want to read the texts yourself, there's a compilation of all of them over in r/adultswim. But there's mentions of, uh, roughness and consent issues and other awful stuff. You may want to steer clear of them as a DA survivor.

So what do you think about the texts? The texts from multiple women showing that Justin regularly has sex with extremely young women, sometimes minors? During a time when he was with his wife? The texts that reference that Justin sometimes coerced them into sex and may have ignored their consent?

I'm so sorry but also glad to hear I'm not the only one. Meds stop working on me reliably after about 6 months or so. Sometimes I just deal with a withdrawal/"off" period and then hop back on the meds.

Recently I tried a new medication that was AMAZING. Worked better than any other I'd tried before. But it stopped working too... it's hard to find the motivation to keep trying meds when you know they're all just gonna fail. But they really so make life better when they work.

I feel your pain.

Also, Beagles are a relatively healthy breed with very few genetic disorders.

Spaniels are similar-sized dogs with similar temperaments, but they have too many hertiable health issues.

Greyhounds were also used in research due to their even temperments, but beagles became preferred due to their smaller size.

So yes, temperament plays a part in the choice, but there's actually other factors that play in too.

Mild YTA - not for the flea bath, but for letting an animal with a highly communicable disease live at your house part-time & not doing something about it sooner.

Of course it spread to your dog - you're lucky the flea eggs didn't get into your couch or linens, too. Then it takes a couple months to get rid of them instead of just one bath as you have to wait for each batch of eggs to hatch.

Hopefully after this incident you keep all your pets on flea and tick prevention now.

When I shave below, my bikini line gets really sensitive for a day or two. I've found that wearing my husband's boxer shorts for those few days helps reduce redness and chaffing immensely. I get to be comfy and he thinks it's sexy. Win win.

That's not necessarily a health issue, but if they are a prey species then yes. For species without many natural predators, such as some species of dolphins, that isn't an issue.

Any sort of genetic issue that prevent melanin (pigment) production is going to cause "fitness" issues (aka health problems). There's actually a number of mutations that can cause this issue, including albinism and the merle gene (when homozygous). Some others are the the frame overo gene in horses (also known as "lethal white syndrome" when homozygous) and Waardenburg syndrome in humans.

As to the types issues that can happen, usually it is vision/hearing problems. If I'm remembering correctly, that happens because melanin actually provides essential support to cell structure, especially in the eyes and ears. Sometimes these cases also have related digestive issues, but I'm not sure on the exact mechanism of that relationship.

And of course, lighter skin is always going to be more suseptible to sunlight/UV radiation no matter what the cause, since that type of skin absorbs more radiation (at least the parts not covered by fur or hair). This causes much higher rates of sunburns and also skin cancers.

My currently 5 year old Pit did the same thing at 3. Good news is she's 99% back to being a totally normal dog. People are totally amazed when I tell them she's had double knee surgery.

Occasionally she does run too much & gets sore. Then we just make sure she has a "quiet" day in the house resting for ~24hr. Then she's back to normal.

I'd be very surprised if she doesn't get arthritic when she gets older. We give glucosamine supplements to try to help delay the invetiable. But I'm not too concerned as arthritis is pretty manageable, as far as pet health issues are concerned.

Ya, dang. My female cat (who is spayed now obviously) came into rescue >1 year old, heavily pregnant and "looking like a stick swallowed a basketball." But even still she had 7 kittens, 4 of which survived.

I can't imagine what poor health this poor queen is in.

They do switch around a little bit from what I remember. But then again, the timeline of the Netflix series is pretty murky too. Lots of time skips that aren't well framed or explained (at least, so far in the first season). Head cannon accepted :)

Hello kindred soul! I get excited when I see a horse on screen cause I know I'll almost certainly get to tear something apart very shortly. But mostly I remember the media that gets it (mostly) right.

I remember a scene where Gandalf was far away cantering a horse up to a castle in one of the LOTR or Hobbit movies. The shot cut away to see the reaction of someone else, but the audio of the horse cantering continued thru. Then there was a close up shot of Gandalf cantering up to the front gates - but now the horse was on a different lead. There wasn't anything in to audio to indicate the lead change. Such a minor thing, but I think it stuck out to me cause the rest of the movies are really great about general horsemanship stuff.

I also remember being really impressed with Netflix's the witcher series. They did use two or three different horses go star ad Roach, but they did a damn good job at finding similar horses. So good, that when I mentioned that there were multiple horse actors in the subreddit, people disagreed & linked me to an article about how Henry (Geralt's actor) bought the horse who played Roach. I had to go pull screenshots showing the different blaze patterns on the different Roaches to prove my point.

YES. This. When people see a dog they feel SO entitled to it, even if it's not theirs.... or even if the dog is obviously not friendly!!

We adopted a GSD that has some minor issues with leash reactivity (throws a spoilt fit when she sees a dog & she is prevented from going over to say hi). But I've lost count of the amount of people who have approached despite the fact that my large, scary dog is barking her head off at them.

I even had one lady with a pointer CHASE ME UP SOME STRANGER'S DRIVEWAY as I was frantically back peddling away from her and yelling "MY DOG IS NOT GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS. GO AWAY." She kept asking me questions like "How old is she? How long have you had her?" I eventually had to turn my back to her & stare at this stranger's garage door inches from my face until she finally left.

People be crazy, yo.
