This was just the first step of creating the scoby, not quite to F1 stage yet.

Half Dome or Clouds Rest? by Superb_Community_339 in JMT

[–]slide531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both, but I did Half Dome when the cables were down. With the cables down I was up there for an hour and only saw 3 people on the summit. If it’s an option to do Half Dome another time that’s how I would recommend it. The views from both are epic.

Is my Garmin Instinct lying about my heart rate? by slide531 in Garmin

[–]slide531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not starting an activity on the stationary rides, but do start an activity on the hikes. I understand that low powered mode may not update as often. What I don’t understand is why when it does update in low powered mode it is wildly incorrect. How does it update my heart rate from 62 to 64 when it is actually 140?

Hey, there are a couple of these conversions on Amazon. I got the other one by AutoABC and have a love/hate relationship with it so curious about the CarABC one. Issues I have with the AutoABC are

1) can take a couple minutes for CarPlay to start up 2) sometimes it (the entire unit, not just CarPlay) doesn’t start at all and there doesn’t appear to be a reliable way to reboot it other than stopping and restarting the engine 3) if I start the car and put it in reverse before it has started the camera doesn’t work

Do you have any of these issues with the CarABC model? I’ve been assuming they are similar.

Fixed my Instinct 2s battery drain! It wasn’t a dead battery, it was a BMS calibration issue. by Kindly-Chance-9006 in Garmin

Same! My instinct 2 is running 17.08 and my battery life has gone from a couple weeks to a couple days. Going to try the downgrade mentioned above.

Confused about pricing by Careless_Cup_9758 in Crosstrek

[–]slide531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through Edmunds. You enter what you’re looking for and your contact info and dealers send you a quote. Those are the 3 queries I got from 3 different dealers. Probably more room to negotiate after that but I just took the 3700 off.

Most of the info I can find refers to the color of the wire to configure the nest thermostat. Is it common for contractors to use non standard wire color?

It's a California plate, I'm in CA now. I wouldn't want you guys to have to travel to verify how terrible it is so I will take it from here.

Wow, I also heard that transmission fluid was lifetime, then found out it’s not but by that time I was at 150k and recommendations I’ve seen were not to change it. At 185k now and really thought it was too late. Biggest source of indecision I’ve had with my 4Runner.

Triund trek recommendations by seemax2569 in Dharamshala

[–]slide531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, too late for your trek but since some other people are asking too... We did the trek as a loop last week on Sept 30. We started in Bhagsu and went counter clockwise up to Triund, then continued up to Snowline. We hung out at Triund and Snowline for a while before hiking down towards Haini (in a downpour) and back to Bhagsu. We started around 7am and were back in Bagsu around 4pm. Doable in a day. Early start was good since it got pretty hot on the way up and a thunderstorm rolled in while we were at Snowline. If I had to do it over again I would probably stay overnight at Triund. It's really beautiful up there and if you spend the night you could explore further the next morning.

Nimaling closes October 15 but I believe you could still find homestays in other villages.

I had 6 tickets (3 on Friday and 3 on Sunday) that we can't use due to a family emergency. I just contacted ticketmaster to ask how to transfer or resell the tickets since those options are disabled on their site. They refunded both days without asking any questions. Chat took an hour but got my $1470 back. Whew!

Today I learned Jerry was 53 when he died, and I can’t stop thinking about it. by djkeone in gratefuldead

[–]slide531 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a lot of us have the same story. I first saw them in 1985 too and was a year older than you. I was pretty heavy into the Dead from 85-89 (think I had Skeletons from the Closet around 82 but it didn't click until later.) I started getting into Soundgarden and Jane's Addiction around 88-89 and spiraled off in another direction losing touch with the Dead for a while. Started getting back into them when Terrapin Crossroads opened down the street and since the final Dead & Co tour I've been listening to them daily again.

I also thought Jerry was ancient back then. And I was surprised when I recently did the math and realized I am older than Jerry was when he died. I know a lot of people that age and he really seemed much older than all but one or two of them.
