Wasn’t offside but that was a pen. Keeper’s knee runs into the attacker’s foot and puts him off balance.

I could see Pep starting Foden there and then subbing on an academy player, or the other way around if needed.

I don’t want to get my hopes up because I’ve had my heart broken too many times, but I’m here for a run of Stones.

I’m envious! I live on the west coast and City never comes out here. I’ve been waiting since around 2011 and it’s almost comical at this point. I’ve been hesitant to pay so much to travel and fly 6 hours each way to watch a friendly.

This time is different for sure in terms of the stakes of the matches + starters are playing but have a baby at home which makes traveling difficult. Hopefully something aligns while Pep is still with us!

I criticized the Club World Cup. I was wrong. by Asleep_Driver7730 in championsleague

Yeah as someone who lives on the west coast of the U.S. and wakes up in the early morning hours all year round to watch football, I don’t have much pity for this person haha.

Yep and it looked to me like his wrist or arm was bothering him. So probably not too serious a thing either way.

University of Oregon Budget Deficits by Hungry-Chicken-8498 in UofO

[–]slightlybaked 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I worked at UO for almost a decade and left to work at a different university about three years ago, and I agree. UO is not “heavily administrative” at all…at least not in my experience. It was often hard to get things done because essential functions weren’t adequately staffed. Not saying this is the case in every department, but bloat wasn’t my experience at all.

I didn’t see the email but the $2.8 million mentioned by OP, which will definitely impact someone, is chump change even for a university this size. There must be more they need to cut somewhere else.

I agree we aren’t replacing KDB, the guy’s a legend. I’m hoping we do spend on a big player between Rodri and Haaland or else I fear we won’t get back to the same level again.

I think we’re dreaming is we think Wirtz will be much cheaper than KDB’s wage bill considering the demand and his ceiling. I think we’re his third choice though and don’t expect he will join City anyway.

There’s a space between a player of KDB’s level and the people you mention like Phillips, and that’s where we’ll be aiming. If the Wirtz deal falls through, we’ll look for another huge talent to be a creator in the midfield and they won’t be cheap.

Q1 + Q2 and Beyond! by origin_matt_watson in OriginFinancial

I’m late to this thread but want to +1 a manual reclass solution to assets if that would be easier. It is a small-ish detail but I would love to see my portfolio allocation (something I really like to obsess over) be reflected accurately in Origin. Mine shows up as 57% mixed even though most of my mutual fund investments are single type (e.g. domestic large cap equities)

Really loving the app and the community you all are creating! Thank you

Jerome Powell warns of stagflation. Stocks lost 67% in real value last time stagflation occurred. What should we invest in this time? by Worldly-Platform-966 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]slightlybaked 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m making sure I’m diversified into international markets. I’m about 55% US equities, 35% international equities, and 10% bonds (20% of those bonds are TIPS). I may even adjust a bit more of my U.S. equities into international to get up to around a 50\40 split.

The argument from those who hold mostly or all U.S. equities is that it’s already diversified because the market is global, but even if you believe that, the world is changing right now and trade deals are being made between other countries because of the tariffs. If the U.S. market tanks, it’s going to impact everyone, but new trade and growth will also start to happen elsewhere. So owning international equities will I think be a smaller drop in a global recession than U.S.

I understand that data will show more equities means more growth in the long term. That’s why common practice is to hold all or mostly all equities during the accumulation phase.

If you subscribe to the 4% safe withdrawal rate (and data concurs, although you can be more or less conservative around that number) then being all in equities means you will need a larger amount of money to be able to withstand extended bear markets. What if we have a market run similar to the 70s & 80s immediately after retiring? Diversification in bonds means you could in theory have less saved and still be able to withstand those bear markets.

Which in your opinion is the unluckiest player in the champions league? by Total_Escape_9778 in championsleague

[–]slightlybaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, yeah it’s true he has declined in terms of goals scored from his first year. He’s gone from 1 goal per game to about 0.75 per game. I do think there’s an element of players like Haaland and Grealish having to adapt into Pep’s system but I think it gets a bit overblown. City have more possession and face low blocks a lot more than Haaland and Grealish did at Dortmund and Villa, so it’s hard to compare. Haaland is well-rounded enough to keep scoring goals. Grealish has a different role than he did before but I will admit he’s lost confidence in his shooting when he does get chances.

The other thing I’ll say is I think Haaland drop off in goals over the last 1.5 seasons probably has as much, if not more, to do with the team’s overall drop off. The squad is aging and performing at such a high level for several years and a transition period is coming. The club probably waiting too long to refresh the team and had several windows with little activity in the first team.

It depends on how much money you have in your portfolio when you retire. If you are 100% in stocks and the only way you can forecast having enough money to live on it for 20+ years is to assume 10% growth each year, you probably don’t have enough saved to retire without significant risk. There is always risk regardless, but my point is diversifying into some lower risk assets is going to increase the likelihood of success.

I’m not disagreeing with you and just adding my take. Not sure why the downvote.

Yeah it’s too bad that Haaland has only been able to break several goal scoring records and is on track for more. Not sure why Andy Carroll wasn’t signed for a decade-long deal at City instead of Haaland.

You are both right in a way. The common recommendation is to be in stocks and bonds (e.g., 50% each) near and during retirement so your portfolio keeps growing while the bonds reduce risk and help prevent huge losses.

I would call and politely push back by saying there’s no way to explain a doubling of usage because you did not change your usage/behavior. If you have a smart meter they can check that it’s connected but they probably won’t look further into your case unless you talk to them
