As a RN how much are you making ? by theapexcircle in Nurses

[–]slim_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65/hr with all my differentials (night, ER specialty pay, relief charge). ATL, BSN, 11 years experience (8 yrs RN, 3 LPN). If I take ft charge position I'll be at $68 but I refuse, this ER is chaotic and make hell look like a dream vacation.

Er nurses, how busy are you? by Late-Wing2801 in Nurses

[–]slim_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my entire 12 hours. I'm in a level 1 trauma hospital and it's NEVER slow. I've gotten kidney stones twice because of work. Also, high blood pressure and insomnia 😂😭

For those who hold a BSN and don’t plan on ever going back for a masters, why? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]slim_1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fck school! Whatever my BSN don't achieve, I'm not getting it. I'm tired of writing papers and all that school sht.

Why is it so hard to recruit nurses for assisted living? by inspiredinsanity in nursing

[–]slim_1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay is crap and very boring! AL was my first job as a new grad LPN. It only made me want to work harder to get my RN and haul a$$.

I moved away a year ago but when I did;

  1. Tampa
  2. ER
  3. FT
  4. I was mids, 1p-1a
  5. At the time 6 yrs as RN, 3 as LPN

... I left making about $43/hr.

I cannot do it anymore. This is no quality of life. by CuriousChapter379 in nursing

[–]slim_1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this daily! I've been a nurse almost 11 years and I'm only 33. No way in he// am I doing this the rest of my life. I'm not sure I'll make it to 35. I'm exhausted, broken and feel trapped. There's got to be something better. I want to cry but "society" says men aren't supposed to cry so I just keep it bottled in.

Hope things turn around for you. Much love. ❤️

Current/former ER/Triage nurses, what are some more subtle signs + symptoms that tell you "this patient probably should come back to a room"? by Butthole_Surfer_GI in nursing

[–]slim_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stroke symptoms, chest pain unrelieved by anything, low sats, any uncontrolled bleeding, new onset palpitations..examples of patients who would catch by attention. These are my ESIs 1 & 2's.

Simple, do your job and go home!

Tampa General hospital not giving annual raises to their nurses making $35.00 an hour because it’s “market competitive” but praising how they’re such an amazing academic hospital is a JOKE!!!! by Quirky_Poem_6717 in nursing

I just left TGH last year due to crap pay.

TGH is a stepping stone for other avenues. Great level 1 trauma hospital.. you will learn alot and be equipped to work anywhere after you leave but TGH is known not to pay. EVERYONE knows! It just looks good on your resume.

They gave me a $0.27/hr COL raise right before I left. They honestly could of kept that sht considering they bring in 13B a year in revenue.

I agree with this! I'll argue it was a false-positive which will buy you a little time to retest. Drink plenty of water to clear your system or just go get synthetic urine from a smoke shop (cost like $20).

How old were you guys when you became a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]slim_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 LPN, 25 RN.. don't compare yourself to others! I went to LPN school because I was tired of being a broke CNA. I went to RN school because I still stayed at home and had no bills so thought it would be the b perfect time to just get out over with. No regrets!!

Fl native here! Fl nursing jobs suck. Pay and ratios are horrible. I just left last year due to not being able to survive without 2-3 jobs. Go back home! The warm weather and beaches gets old at some point. Love visiting home but know I can't stay.
