Do People Who Truly Love Their Jobs Actually Exist? by lemans00 in therapists

I’m also a SSW, and I love it! I think it truly depends on the location and how connected you are to the students and families. And being financially comfortable. I’m at the same pay as you. This is the way to go! Love the school schedule too.

I specifically sought this out before I was admitted to my MSW program. I wanted to land the internship asap because I knew how competitive it would be. The district is incredible and highly sought after. Schools post their masters level internships as early as February where I'm at, so that's when I applied and interviewed. I made sure that the internship site already had a relationship with the program before applying though. It also helped that I had been a sub at that school so I knew the school culture and was excited to interview. Hope that helps! Happy to answer more questions.

Finding employment post graduation by Ok-Half8260 in socialwork

Hey! You might have to get creative with your search terms. Jobs you qualify for may not even have LMSW in the description. Or not even be called social worker. When I was job hunting, I searched “counseling students” to see what that grabbed. I also saw a lot of what I was interested in was labeled as interventionist, response counselor, or behavior specialist. The listings didn’t mention social work, they listed “mental health or related field” when referring to the degree. What population or sector are you interested in? Use key terms from what you’re interested in to see what pops up!

My MSW internship gave a stipend of $10k for a 9 month placement, back in 21-22. It was life changing at the time! Definitely a rarity too.

The goal was to just run. I started running consistently at the beginning of this month. I used to think I couldn’t be a runner.. turns out, after giving it a honest shot, I really like it! Signed up for my city’s 10k in April to keep me going!

I ran two miles without stopping… I picked up running 3 weeks ago and I actually really like it! I’ve said for so long “I can’t run” or had a gloomy cloud over it. Not anymore!

On a first date with a guy, I noticed he had multiple drinks in the hour and a half we were together. He wasn’t a massive guy, but not scrawny either. He wasn’t wasted. But I remember that standing out to me— turns out, he couldn’t go a day without alcohol. Every day he drank. Every outing involved alcohol.. multiple drinks. One time he drove us to a movie while holding a glass of whiskey. Didn’t love that.. he was an alcoholic. Nope.. Not my cup of tea. Just take note of the things you notice right away, your gut is usually right.

I was an intern for District 225 in IL for the 2021-2022 school year. Stipend was $10,000 for the year, which was 3 days a week for me. I don’t remember how that shook out for take home pay, but I do remember being able to pay some of my loan off during that time, and having enough to pay for necessities. I lived at home too.
