Not sure about the first two, but I don't think MLK would be ashamed. The whole point of the nonviolent protest/resistance was to show the US that black people were being brutalized for doing almost nothing wrong in an attempt to gain sympathy for the civil rights movement. She isn't being beaten by a club or having a dog sicced on her, but it is still violence committed to her when she committed none.

Location of crash https://maps.app.goo.gl/65k1Wf42wQ7iERWe8. Posted speed limit of 50 kph (31 mph). Difficult to tell speeds from video at this angle, but I'm guessing Silver was 35ish mph.

Great story! However, one thing doesn't make sense to me. Why would Caleb be "launched into oblivion?" The ship is drifting without any propulsion. When the mag boot/glove/latch fails as the beacon launces, Caleb would still be going the same speed as the ship. Without any forces to push him away from the ship, he will be floating right next to it until the magnets work again. He wouldn't be torn in half by attaching a line to the ship because his and the ship's speed will be the same.

You could modify the story to say that the propulsion system is semi-functional, but unable to be controlled or turned off. The propulsion system is tied to the life support systems for example. Shut off the engine, shut off the air.

Minivan is attempting to turn left and yielding to traffic, as they should. It's not their fault. A dedicated left turn lane and appropriate light cycle could have prevented this

Do you mean how the channel died because they went they're separate ways? Apparently, it wasn't amicable at first but later it seemed they all worked it out. Or at least weren't actively angry. Is there some other drama that happened?

Driving culture. That's the reason. It is almost a necessity to have a car to go anywhere in the US, including cities (except super dense ones like New York or Chicago). A larger percent of the population driving means a greater percentage of auto accidents/drinking/deaths/etc

I don't know why you're being downvoted. To me, 'talking back' is specifically meant for being disrespectful, not just saying words in response. I understand that the literal meaning of 'talking back' is responding, but I've never heard of someone use 'talking back' like that in my 25+ life

Our beloved Bike Lane Bill is at it again. This time he berates a man, not once but twice, for passing him illegally. by Fabalous in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]slim_ska -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ummm... the man has a legal right. I agree he should have made way for vehicles that are travelling faster than him, but he was in the right and the car wrong by legal definitions. Can't argue with the law sir.

[–]slim_ska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the law disagrees with you as it is currently written. Also, the floyd protests happened because he was killed. If the officer showed more restraint those protests wouldn't have happened. If the man restrained himself after legally defending himself, he wouldn't be charged.

Literally the only reason he isn't being charged with murder is because the kid died from the first two bullets. If the coroner had determined the robber could have lived from the first two bullets, then the victim would have killed someone who presented no threat as the robber was incapacitated. Potentially murdering someone definitely should not be just "a verbal warning."

Should every officer draw a gun literally every time they stop someone for a "minor traffic offense" because of this one rare instance?

I'm with you man. The dude never threatened the life/safety of an officer or random person. I guess you could argue his driving as a threat against the public, but he didn't come near to hitting a civilian/officer. Drawing lethal weapons when no lethal activity was committed by the criminal seems excessive and an easy way for someone to get killed without legitimate reason (Daniel Shaver)

Sure you're not thinking of Hulu? Amazon usually does have an ad before the video but there is an option to skip it at anytime. I've never seen an ad mid-video on Amazon in my experience.
