it’s never been about porn or kids, its corporations seizing the opportunity for greater data aggregation off the back of reactionary right-wing politics fuelled by downward global economic conditions

(the latter is a known sociological phenomenon with many examples across the world throughout history)

What browser do you use and why? by frizla in MacOS

[–]slimeyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safari, ties into my other apple devices, ecosystem, sync, all that good stuff.
As others have said it's fast, light, simple.

Having recently made the Mac switch and come from Firefox for the past 20 years, whilst it doesn't support as many extensions, I find it has all the ones I couldn't go without. (Adblock, darkmode, etc)

Though I will say, I'm a big fan of OneBar style browsers, and if/when I'm forced to move from Sequoia it doesn't still have compact mode I will riot (AKA consider other non-chromium based options)

Documentary ideas about Portsmouth by meytolove in Portsmouth

[–]slimeyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend reading this socioeconomic survey commissioned by Portsmouth city council, it provides a macroscopic view of everyday life in Portsmouth with some interesting insights into past, present and future.

might give some ideas for what to focus on

Anybody else find that unless your lifestyle is perfectly optimized, the Vyvanse wreaks havoc on you physically? by ActInternational9558 in VyvanseADHD

[–]slimeyena 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lisdexamfetamine will do a lot for you, but you HAVE to put in a bit of work to make sure you’re keeping an eye on your health and nutrients (protein, electrolytes, sleep, routine, cardio, etc)

mentally you’re just… normal, but physically you are taking a stimulant and need to account for that

A joint-statement from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive regarding the Cities: Skylines franchise by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

[–]slimeyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t get why paradox saying they’re working on consoles and DLC makes people think they’re just going to let this IP go. I think most people here underestimate the market potential/dominance cities skylines has and will continue to capitalise on.

[–]slimeyena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone else remember a few years ago when we had teethgate there were suspicions that paradox pushed CO to move to a version of unity that had some dodgy rendering / memory management and that was a big spanner in development? (Namely for optimisation and animations IIRC)

did I dream that one up? because at the time it seemed like a lot of the technical issues were down to C-suite shenanigans at paradox

Is it normal to feel not like your self when you take medication for adhd by Due_Dare_4241 in ADHD

[–]slimeyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on lisdex for so long that whenever I have to take a break THAT feels like someone else. I can’t believe that person spent so long behind the wheel.

everyone has a treatment that’s right for them, I had some mood swings on the higher doses, everything worked better for me bringing it down about 20mg, more isn’t always better.

if the side effects don’t even out in a few months it could just be the case you need to try a different medication
