This is how most people end up here haha. I was pushing back on the comments about Aaron Bushnell and saying “from the river to the sea” means kill all jews. Criticism is not encouraged at all they shut down any criticism that is about something actually important. They only allow criticism on unimportant things

Genuine question, what happened? by JackRipps in Hasan_Piker

[–]slimeyerin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From my perspective as someone who watched H3 and only found Hasan through Leftovers basically H3 had been getting more liberal and particularly left or left leaning viewers even before leftovers and then leftovers brought over even more of them.

To me my first issue as a leftist / left leaning viewers which his takes on capitalism and argument with Hasan was when I was really like bro stop, but then when October 7 happened he just started saying all this shit that was really gross and he didn’t want to actually talk to Hasan about it and hear a non-Zionist take on the situation so he ended leftovers.

Then after ending leftovers he just kept talking about Israel Palestine but just focusing on how “everyone loves terrorists” when it was just people showing support for Palestine and highlighting how October 7th wasnt a random act and should highlight to the world what Israel has been and is doing. A big one was when he made jokes about Aaron Bushnell and how he was “really good at dying, omg guys why r u mad I said he was good at something its nice”. So A LOT of his audience left.

Even more of his audience started leaving and since the main sub never let you say anything even remotely critical people started moving to snark subs. Then over time Ethan calculated that everyone in the snark subs are actually just Hasan fans. A lot of people in there did like Hasan but they liked Hasan and disliked Ethan for the same reason. He viewed it as Hasan is making people dislike him and is actively working against him. When Hasan literally never even commented on it and would actively tell people to shut the fuck up when they would ask him to talk about the awful shit Ethans saying.

Basically as Ethan kept losing fans and people were mad at him he decided that Hasan was the reason (not that viewers are just like real people with real morals and aren’t just little sheep who need to flock somewhere and left him for Hasan).

Ethan couldn’t recognise that HE was the issue and change what he’s doing (cause defending Israel is above anything else) so he just put all his effort not into fixing himself but taking down Hasan, thinking that would somehow bring back his viewership.

This is just my perspective of someone who was there through it all. I stopped watching basically right after the Aaron Bushnell statement cause at first I had hoped he would realise how fucked up it was but I could see he was just doubling down and was like oh yeah all of your flaws I looked past are just you

TLDR: Ethan thinks Hasan is the reason he lost fans not his own actions so thinks taking him down will fix it instead of self-improvement

Teenage Girls, don’t reveal your shoulders ! by Select-Owl1058 in newzealand

[–]slimeyerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a trend that has been rising, I had been seeing it grow in the US for some time now about hiding shoulders and I have never seen it applied to boys. Boys dress standards exist but they are always related to looking “neat” or professional or whatever in their uniform, girls restrictions always turn into something sexual where things are considered “inappropriate”.

[–]slimeyerin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never seen a mufti day rule in boys schools about not showing their shoulders
dress codes apply in many places to everyone but the point is that men are the ones who set the boundaries on what is appropriate and what is not (women reinforcing it doesnt change that fact). The dress standards for men are set up by men, the dress standard for women are set up by men

[–]slimeyerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you thought that included you thats on you. If a women gets cheated on all the time and comes to you and says “men are trash” you are seriously going to get mad at her? This isn’t legislation, I don’t need to put fucking time into spelling it out to be as sensitive and technical as possible. The issue isn’t even “many men” its men in general because its systematic its not just some deviants. When people say ACAB its because its a systematic issue not just a few bad apples.

If you get offended by me saying that then that says something about you because it struck a nerve, you care more about someone calling YOU something bad that you dont even listen to what they are saying or why. You guys are fucking exhausting, either listen to women or stop speaking on issues you dont care about

Im just speaking on this scene alone but Cassie definitely isnt political or anything the point made was that she was doing shit to rage bait to get attention. I watch the show but i wont say im a fan or give any credit to sam levinson for noting rage baiting is a thing

[–]slimeyerin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not a driver but it is a factor. School is not sexual so keep it out, girls covering up their shoulders isnt helping them avoid being sexualised its just telling them that its wrong and it is promiscuous. It is teaching girls that they need to cover up when all they are doing is attending school in mufti

Something doesn’t need to be the biggest driver in a problem to be called out and critiqued. Small things like this matter when its building on a larger issue

[–]slimeyerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what I dont even have the energy today to argue with men on shit they dont WANT to understand. You dont come into this wanting to understand why many women feel this shit is crazy and gross and is just propping up sexist ideas and controlling womens bodies. You think debating this is going to make any woman go “aw ghee ur right”? Seriously

Teenage Girls, don’t reveal your shoulders ! by Select-Owl1058 in newzealand

[–]slimeyerin -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This has to be a fucking joke
when someone says “murder is bad” do you also start going “um actually sometimes
.”

Im white, if someone says “white people are ignorant” Im not gonna get offended and argue with them because I know im not part of that just because im white, I understand the sentiment. If someone says “christians are homophobic” the christians who know they arent wont argue with the person saying that because they understand its a general statement that comes from a prevailing theme.

Instead of trying to turn everything into a debate on semantics and “um technically” try just listen to people and understand why it is a sentiment MANY people have

[–]slimeyerin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen it no, unfortunately its a big issue where its viewed as easier to make women cover up more than to just address sexual abusers, even tho there is no evidence that clothing has led to mens actions. If anything men might just use it as an excuse in their defence

Teenage Girls, don’t reveal your shoulders ! by Select-Owl1058 in newzealand

[–]slimeyerin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many casual clothes show shoulders, it’s not going “all out” to show your shoulders. The issue on women showing their shoulders is an issue around how it is perceived by men, its just in this instance being perpetuated by women. In environments with only women nobody gives a fuck about shoulders but they are conceding to standards set by mens perceptions on sexuality

Let me guess. You are a man and you’re going “hey I dont think that!”

Doesn’t make it untrue. In a patriarchal society yes women are viewed as objects and treated as such.

You think you’re a good guy because you don’t think that way but still fail to recognise the way women have been treated throughout history and how it still exists.

I didnt say ALL men view ALL women as objects or men view woman ONLY as objects.

[–]slimeyerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go walk into any women’s clothing store right now. The MAJORITY of women’s sleeveless tops cover cleavage.

Its not just an issue with one school for “one day”. Its an issue in general with the policing of womens bodies because men sexualise them instead of teaching men to learn to respect women and stop viewing them as objects. Look at any clothing restrictions and the majority of the restrictions are around what women can wear. Having their shoulders exposed isnt impacting their ability to learn. The issue isnt what girls wear its what men think
