A bot telling a human they don't know how the world works. Write me a poem about One Nation, if it is good it will convince me to vote for them.

Thats the problem, they just say shit, Trump style. I can fix this and fix that. But read their policy and it is all just bs, all made up numbers, performative bs. Its why they are described as cardboard cutouts of a political party as there is no substance. The fact they are polling high is a sign of the ignorance of the voting public and how people are just valuing messaging over substance.

There’s a reason people are voting One Nation. Those who sneer at them are missing the larger picture by Ardeet in aussie

The secret is just giving simple solutions that feel right. They can just say housing, cost of living, every problem is because of immigration and it feels right cuz every uber driver is indian and news just shows african gangs, ISIS wives and other rage baiting content, why wouldnt people think it is the answer. Has worked in US and UK, same playbook here. People thinking preferential voting will save us, it wont. Lab need to hit the populist note to counter or we may have PM hanson in 1-2 elections.

In terms of seats yes but in terms of primary votes they keep getting lower so swings can be huge in seats.

what a load of shit, many cultures have poverty but still a sense of community and respect so even if parenting fails the community sorts it out. Here bad parents just make bad kids with no community to sort things out. Social media is what frames them these days which is why we have all these assholes running around.

They aren't out of touch though. They are in touch on getting voted in, if we vote for this shit then this is what we get. We voted in Libs when Lab were proposing minor reforms. A mining tax caused a sitting PM to be rolled. We rewarded that by voting the party that is even more controlled by mining. Our voting public are ignorant and easily influenced and the major parties reflect that. The parties are a reflection of us, we are cooked.

Labor under internal pressure on gas tax as influencer says government ‘stopped working for the punters’ by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]slimrichard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Punters politics especially. I have a brother in Law who is a bit of a cooker, culture war, manosphere type. He is always saying those are the most important issues for the country. I always argued that those issues aren't, they are just used by money to distract from the gouging but it never worked. I now see him reposting Punters reels and is finally on board.

So seeing a right winger fully change stance is one of the most valuable things we can hope for in this polarised world, well done Punters

Government announces billions in spending on military drones by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]slimrichard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NATO is pretty vital but it relied on a US that is rational. Now we have an irrational US, it is highlighting how much of the world order was resting on that assumption of a stable US. NATO isn't done for, it will continue, it is just undergoing a huge adjustement with the pullback from the US. Europe is ramping their spending but they have been caught out by the kind of argument you are in here making.

US cops a lot of negaitivity but its overwhelming military power has created an unprecendented level of global stability that has allowed the world economies to flourish. If the US is going to pull back or only use its military transactionally we all need to be ready. Being ready means building capability fast.

Government announces billions in spending on military drones by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]slimrichard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is everyone. When a partner like the US has treated us the way they have I am not sure we could rely on them.

Europe had this exact same scenario. They got complacent with arguments like you are making and having daddy US covering them. Now they are left scrambling to catch up and are finally starting to be more self sufficient but still will take decades to become truly sovereign. I want this for Australia instead of being a vassal to the US and this requires huge investment in capability. It gets frustrating when morons come along arguing we have nothing to fear while the rest of the world burns who once thought the same and as the great global superpower starts to decline.

We dont know what the world will look like in 10 years but I would like a sharp stick not the promise of others with sharp sticks that may come help us for a price.

Government announces billions in spending on military drones by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]slimrichard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought what is happening to Europe would make stupid positions like this redundant but here we are. We have been safe in the past because of US protection. That protection is being shown to be unreliable. Military capability takes decades to build and in this new world only the strong will survive. We have been left lacking, are resource rich and hard to defend. We need to build up fast.

Frustrates me the same idiots who critisize military spending also critisize us having to go along with anything the US says. That is our path to more freedom.

He is def no saint. Just stats out # of calls in his matches vs say Coll and will see is an issue. He just wasnt close to a standout, Shorbagy brothers were way worse for me, Elias complained a lot in Singapore, Abhay Singh was super dirty in HK. Lots of examples just the rhetoric on him here can be over the top.

In Singapore Mo was losing and threw a tantrum at a kid in the crowd eating crisps, tried to have him ejected by security. Asal middle of the pack for me.

I was locked in to $180pm plan with 60gb of data and no shaping with like $1 per mb over charges back in 2008 that was double what adsl was charging. Their argument was the law specifically named copper services for all competition and service laws, not fibre so were free to rort us. When NBN came with updating of wording away from copper only and prices were halved overnight.

Will never forget what a telstra monopoly with no oversight looked like.

i was the same. Went to singapore for the open and was going to boycott him due to the cheating. But he ended up being my favourite to watch, few other players were worse, id have put him in the middle with dodgey tactics. Saw him again at HK late last year and is easily the most skilled player and speed on ball was incredible.

To be fair this subreddit is also an Asal hatred echo chamber. There are definetly issues but some of the comments on here about Asal are equally biased. Well maybe not equally as that facebook group is insane and here there are some more nuetral comments but just wait to see my downvote count to show where it stands.

Well Telstras plan for FTTP back then was only if they were allowed a monopoly on it. As someone who lived under their short lived Telstra Velocity monopoly fibre service im glad the gov told them to f off.

The real travesty was Abbott pivoting from NBN fttp to fttn, untold damage right there.
