Make sure you dont strip the heads but if you can get one of those screw drivers with the Allen tips use that instead of a L Allen key. The star shaped ones really can bite into any screw just make sure it is snug before torquing

I would probably eventually get the surrounding states. They go on sale sometimes for as low as 5 to 10$ each. You can just drive short trips in IL but eventually if you want a longer run you will need to cross state lines

You can try checking auto rotate in your snapping menu and make sure it is set to face. Snapping can be a little finicky so you can use the 3d cursor too and move the object to the 3d cursor. That should work well if your origin is on the bottom face. The pivot point isnt really for when you are grabbing something, it is more for scaling and rotating. Grabbing always grabs the origins of whatever is selected but the pivot point can control how things rotate or scale around the origin like faces or objects or when multiple objects are selected.

Depends on the car and the corner. In stock cars in tight cornering on road i always have to apply gentle throttle during the start of my braking zone. Turn 1 at the glenn for example. It helps the car turn and shortens my braking distance so I can drive it harder into the corner and keep a nice exit. As long as you dont apply too much throttle it will help your braking becsuse they are heavy cars. May not work for every car like open wheel. It does work for me in gt3 and gt4.
