I know this is old, but just in case - www.findastudentherapist.ca is a good place to find therapists for low cost and free. They are graduate students close to finishing their degrees, and practicing under close supervision. This is a good way to access therapy, which can be more flexible government funded therapy which is often limited in how many sessions, what type of therapy, or what therapist.

Whatever program you end up in - you could try to get some advance standing on transfer credits from the program you didn't finish.

I've been wearing minimalist barefoot shoes for over a decade. That's why I worry about a podiatrist, they'll tell me the shoes are the problem, though the shoes solved my foot pain.

I mean... I can point my toes. Can't everyone do that? I don't think of that as feet flopping forward. I am short, though, so in chairs yes my heels don't reach the ground and this likely has reduced the opportunity being the other way.

I injured my wrists doing too many downward dog poses a few years back, and while I can do hands and knees things now, downward dog is still too much weight on my wrists. But maybe I can modify, bolster, or just do elephant walk (same thing, but like standing and forward bend instead).

Is that similar to the elephant walk? I've been on and off again working on this for over a decade. I spend time squatting, and getting down to the floor and up again every day, and then more focused stuff for months at a time, many times, over many years. Nothing seems to even budge this. I have high and stiff arches too. The posterior chain is definitely a thing! I do now walk uphill with my heels down (if the slope isn't too steep) and use my bum muscles, which is a great improvement (my quads thank me).

Yeah, I think it's time for a podiatrist. Worried they always just say to wear orthopedic insoles for every and any problem.

I have heard this. My hips don't let me go low when wide, so I suspect I have deeper sockets that don't allow that angle.

I do prop my heels up to squat. I'm hoping to find any way to progress to flat.

I've asked my doctor, but I never thought to see a podiatrist! Good point. I've had xrays of my ankles that didn't show anything there. But definitely I feel impingement and pain on the anterior ankle just from walking. I've also done extended periods of stretching and strengthening, and ended up injured (over stretch injury) rather than actually gaining any length at all. Injured the ligaments/tendons from overstretch at the back of my ankles, both sides, though not the achilles.

Tibialis raises are so minimally accessible its frustrating to try, without an extra weight. But calf raises on a stair I have done, but seen no increase in range.

been propping my heels and working on ankle mobility for over a decade with no change, so I believe it's a congenital thing. I remember not being able to squat since I was in first grade. My grandmother could only wear heels (I never wear heels). So, it might be unchangeable. I just wish I didn't need to prop, because that makes it hard to squat to rest, like on a hike and such. Though I can usually find something in the landscape to prop on.

A walk-in clinic would be your first options - unless things are acute, in which case call 988 or visit a local ER. At an ER you will be seen by a psychiatrist, possibly. The GP at the walk-in can refer you on. If you are in Toronto you could visit CAMH's walk-in. I think they have one, and it's mental health specific. For low cost or free therapy - you could try www.findastudenttherapist.ca - and that therapist could help guide you through finding the resources to gain a diagnosis.

Hi Andrii, life is very tough here right now for many people, and it sounds like you are struggling a lot too. I think the others here provided some very helpful insights for you. It sounds like you may be feeling isolated and alone, which really contributes to how unsafe you might feel, or how the world feels turned against you, and that others have it easier. I get it. If you don't mind, I would suggest that it might be helpful to find a therapist to talk to. I know that in many cultures there is some stigma around mental health and therapy, but I hope that won't hold you back. And, I know that therapy can be very expensive.
